The Bankhead Restaurant & Lounge Sherwood Park — Restaurant in Sherwood Park

I organized a surprise birthday celebration for my wife here, early in December; and we had a fabulous event with around 40 guests (including children of all ages, after about 10 cancellations). Chef Sunil and his team went out of their way to help at every stage of my planning, and to ensure that things were good on the evening. We had a custom menu with full bar service at The Social Bar and Grill (the entire restaurant was reserved for us for the evening), and the waitstaff was tireless in ensuring that all of our friends were well taken care of. The food turned out beyond delicious, and our friends were full of praise for every item served - from the appetizers right through to the desserts. Some of the appetizers and desserts were served in elegant individual portions - which made for a very classy buffet setup.

Another function, with a plated dinner service, was being held at the same time in the hotel's hall; but the kitchen and waitstaff handled both quite well - being very efficient and happy to help. This is a relatively new establishment, and it will only get better as the team acquires more experience. Jaspreet (the GM at the Four Points by Sheraton, Sherwood Park - to which this restaurant is attached); Chef Sunil; Brydan (the Sales and Catering Coordinator) , and some of their Facilities team members were out helping me with AV on the eve of our function; and our slideshow was finally run on Chef Sunil's own laptop. This review is based off a visit on 05/01/2023.

We stayed at the attached hotel (The Four Points by Sheraton Sherwood Park) for 6-nights from April 30 to May 6. After our first visit to The Bankhead on May 1, we didn't visit again, despite the convenience.

We arrived at the restaurant at about 9:00AM; breakfast runs daily on weekdays until 10:00AM. We were the only guests in the restaurant for our entire meal.

Upon arrival, we noticed a breakfast buffet was set up. I never learned what the buffet consisted of or what it cost because the server told me it was "old" and handed me a menu instead. In hindsight maybe I shouldn't have just accepted that as fact, because I would have rather eaten "old" buffet food than leave hungry.

I ordered the French toast, and my husband ordered two eggs any style. The eggs only come with toast and hash browns. Want another protein? It'll cost $5 more, bringing a basic breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast to an eye-watering $17. My French toast was $15, and was literally two pieces of bread (4 small triangles) with whipped cream on top. $15 for two pieces of bread?! I was STARVING when I left and ended up going to the Starbucks across the street to get a sandwich.

After tip, our meal came to $50. Not worth it. There are dozens of better options in Sherwood Park for a filling breakfast that will come in at half the price. After our breakfast experience, we didn't bother returning to try out their dinner offerings.

This was my second time at the restaurant. I ordered the crispy chicken burger with just lettuce as it also said special sauce on the menu. I asked for no sauce at all. I ordered a house salad with no dressing. I repeated several times no sauce of any kind on the sandwich, and a dry salad. The meal took awhile, and when it came, the dressing was on the side, and my sandwich had mayo on both sides. I had to remove the bun with lettuce, and wipe the chicken off as the server did not return until I was done. I told him I said no sauce at all, and he said the cook added mayo because he thought it would be dry. Uh huh. He said he was sorry, but still charged me for it. Fine. I ate it, but when I say no sauce at all, don't just add sauce because you make your chicken dry. Maybe don't over cook the chicken. I will not be returning. Terrible service. Took us forever to get the bill as the server was either chatting with the other servers or not...
