The Fickle Fig Express — Restaurant in Sidney

It was a good experience for myself. First off, I had a craving for coffee at 5:00 o'clock. It was already hard to find a coffee shop opened past that time, so I chose to go to this one and I drove all the way from Central Saanich, to Sidney. When I arrived, there was a nice lady that welcomed me, and got my capuchino, which was great. One thing that got me from this coffee shop, is that whenever I go to a coffee shop and I'm going to treat myself for nice coffee, I make sure to get a nice dessert as well. And place did deliver my expectations. I loved their lemon tart. It was delicious. I think it's the best one I have had so far, but bear in mind it's just my opinion. I would not normally do this but I’ve never had everything we purchased there $51 worth put in the garbage as it was not good at all. I had the hibiscus lemonade sorbet and it was so tart that after 4-5 bits my mouth was raw and numb - had to throw away. I also had the hibiscus lemonade drink and it was just watered down lemons. Sons had the vanilla gelato and one ate half the other said it was not good tasted like plastic, both thrown away. Bought vanilla lemon cupcakes, got home the icing must have been made with lard/crisco most definitely low quality ingredients and then the lemon curd was so tart again and the cupcake itself was dry and stale. Beautiful looking pastries and friendly staff but unfortunately I will not be returning. The first try, I bought a pastry which was delicious and there was a piece of twine (string) baked into it. I did reach out to the owner and they apologized and at the time I thought okay, innocent accident so I wouldn’t post a review. The second try was a week ago when I ordered a cinnamon bun and got home to find if was something completely different.
