Chrispy African Market — Restaurant in St. Catharines

To start because Google doesn't let you reply to responses... This person is clearly aggressive. N I wrote nothing but my honest opinion. Again this is my personal opinion. But there response to any negativity leaves no room for growth.

Stay away! I thought I would give this place a try.

Well I have absolutely nothing worthy to write about ( not one to write negativity ) but when I saw the reviews and went to try something new.

Firstly the place is not welcoming by any means. Not clean.

Service : the guy when I went to there seemed more annoyed that I was even there (the only customer). Didn't seem very helpful.

Nothing on the menu was available. Seemed more like I was being discouraged to purchase anything.

Now down to actual food. After asking for three different items which weren't available. I went with the suya meat which was about $24 for a small styrofoam container. The meat it self was heavily seasoned which wasn't the issue. The meat it self was inedible. I couldn't even bite throw it. It was like rubber. Pulling on it I would of ripped my teeth out. Thought maybe it was the one piece. Nope it was all of it. Wasted my time money and hunger.

Again I would highly not even bothering with this place. There is a lot of work this place needs if they plan on staying...

My family and I came to St. Catharines for the first time we tourist so we needed a place that sells food that we know so I googled online and found Christy.

I placed my order and first put off was the food arriving late which would not have been an issue if the said food was actually nice and finger licking.

When it comes to food, I do not joke because any little thing myself and husband eats could affect our body system adversely especially outside cooked meal.

The Jollof rice was actually nice but the Egusi soup and stewed chicken was a zero for us. The Egusi soup tasted stale (the restaurant claimed the food is cooked fresh once your order is placed) and tasteless and the meat inside seemed to have been boiled and just poured into the Egusi without allowing it to cook in the soup.

The stewed chicken was zero, it appeared like it was sauced up with tin tomatoes not properly fried or one of this canned tomatoes.

We threw out the food as we could barely eat it and went Canadian. A waste of our $58

My advise is that whoever the cook is needs to up their game because what we ate isn’t food at all. Get a few honest people (it is better if it is someone you do not know) to try the meals you cook and give their reviews.

There is no sign on the building so we circled the block and decided to just go in to the building that google maps was telling us to go to and it was the correct location!! Food took about 30 mins I ordered the chicken and jollof rice with puff puff. The jollof rice was spicer then I remember and also don’t taste the same it’s spicy tomato rice…the puff puff was good but one was covered in lil white fuzzys…the chicken was decent !also there’s no returns or exchange…so when they sell you hairy puff puff and over cooked rice ur stuck with it.
