We decided to try this place on our visit to Stratford based on it's great reviews. The shop itself had a great aesthetic and it was fun to watch the cooks at work. They were fairly disorganized, though to their credit, they had alot of customers waiting and were training new staff simultaneously. The set up of how you order food wasn't very efficient, as you had to order and pay for your food at the counter, but the main dine-in area was outside on a patio around the corner that was self-seating. When we were there, there was a high likelihood that you wouldn't actually have a table or seat to eat the food when you received it, even though they would bring you your food if you managed to get a table outside. The flavour of my burrito was great overall, though the rice was undercooked and 'crunchy'. The tacos were flavourful, though not very substantial. With our 30 minute wait for takeout, I wouldn't really consider our food worth the price. I'd love to try this establishment again when they're less busy as I don't think this first visit was when they were...
Read moreFirst off there was no guacamole and chips because she said that avocados were too expensive (?) so they now used it sparingly. It was still on the menu board though. After lunch, she asked us how it was and we told her that it wasn’t what we were expecting but it was OK. One of us had lived in Mexico and it wasn’t what we had hoped for. She responded with: Well next time go to Mexico. I was taken aback by that remark. I guess I could have said fine and then never returned, but having worked in the hospitality industry, I always appreciated feedback from my customers. My bad. IN RESPONSE to your reply: The 15% more Mexican referred to the spice we were hoping for. It was an expression to indicate that it was not quite what we were hoping for. That’s all it meant. And I apologize as I thought she meant expensive since I haven’t noticed avocados to be in short supply. Mexico is a beautiful country. I have a deep appreciation for the Mexican culture and people and food. It’s also producing some pretty fine wines now as well. It’s not burros and...
Read moreExtremely disappointed after trying this spot for lunch. Had high hopes as the location and decor are amazing! The food, however, left me feeling very ripped off. I ordered The El Hippie taco, 1 quesadilla and an order of guac and chips, and a jalapeño dip and chips. Close to $40 total. The taco was very soggy, and the quesadilla had very minimal cheese. Most laughable was the quantity of food with the guac and jalapeño dip, at $9 and $10 respectively. Although the dips were tasty, we barely received a handful of Kettle Chips(right out of the bag) for each portion, and the size of the dips were tiny. Worth $5/6 at best in my opinion for such a small portion. Our friends ordered their order with the request for no dairy. When they received the items including dairy, and tried to order something different, they were nickel and dimed to pay an extra dollar. it would’ve been a nice gesture to waive that for making us wait an additional 10 minutes while the rest of our...
