We went on brunch with family on 30th of march around 2pm with my husband and 3 year old and 10 year old , when we came I asked for the seating area on the Side while no one was around us, when we were eating another family sat beside us, at one point my 3 year old touched the lady beside us with his finger , i apologized for that and she said that’s ok, then at some point elderly lady told me that you should tell my kid to sit down he is not sitting down , we said ok, then again she said this boy is not sitting down he should sit down , you are not telling him to sit down, I said I Been telling him, he is 3 year old , you should calm down then the guy started swearing in front of my kids that you can’t tell my mom to calm down , then the other guys got involved told us you should apologize to the family that your kid is not sitting down , we told them apologize for saying calm down, we personally asked for the seating area , may be you shouldn’t sit down beside the people with kids, it’s a family restaurant, then the situation got escalated we paid and left then when we were leaving manager came and said what Happened I said may be you shouldn’t say Denny’s is afamily restaurant, and say toddlers are not allowed, they both families didn’t pay either , that’s very stressful situation Where the involve the kids , I said if it’s my 10 year old I can understand but I’m telling them I don’t understand, I feel like they were blaming me for my 3 year old and we apologized , we paid still blamed us for them not paying, the server was standing there no one said anything only when we were leaving manager came then I called them manager told me when we come next time we will give you private area, for what I thought that is so wrong, I didn’t know what was wrong , my 10 year old got stressed and I thought it didn’t handled properly, that is so wrong , it was not our first time going their , its straight racism, we won’t go next time as a family , that I referred my family too may be not next time, my toddler didn’t even know that happened, they are the one who escalated started swearing, not handled properly we were...
Read moreI went to Dennys in Newton Surrey It was early morning. I was with my son and a girl friend of his. I ordered a single cheeseburger mustard and mayo onlyoooò . My son and his friend ordered a sampler plate with fries, cheese sticks, chicken fingers and onion rings . The onion rings were all deep fried together in a ball like a clump of deep fried greasy batter. The chicken fingers were the size of your finger and tasted rubbery. The cheese sticks were saturated in so much grease no one wanted to eat them. The fries were the only edible item on the platter. Now my cheeseburger, what a disaster. A single cheeseburger mustard and mayo only . Sounds fairly basic and easy to prepare. The waitress brought me a double burger no cheese nothing on it but pickles. I called her over and explained what was wrong with the burger. The waitress brought me back another burger this time it was smothered in mayonnaise a single atty still no cheese. Why can they not get this right. I wanted to cancel my order my son and his friend were not going to eat their sampler platter. We all just nibbled on some fries. The waitress brought me burger # 3 and might I add that the burger was $19 and $3-4 extra with fries. The 3rd and final burger was tiny and charbroiled to the point of being as hard as a crusty old hockey puck. There was a smear of mayo and mustard on it no cheese . It was flavourless , dry and burnt. I had never been so disappointed in a burger. There was a woman in the restaurant that was table hopping with a bunch of her bags and changing her clothing standing beside her table . We mentioned this to the manager and waitress and all they said was she has mental health problems. That is very sad and we understand many people are suffering with mental health issues. At the same the restaurant has a duty to ensure that all guest feel comfortable and safe. We felt like we were in the Twilight Zone. The whole experience was so bizarre and negative. The waitress was unprofessional as was the manager and the environment was just off . No I would not recommend the Newton Denny’s in...
Read moreWe went here for brunch with a party of 9 (5 adults, 4 children; 10mo, 3yo,6yo, 9yo) at 11:15 AM, after church. We were told it would be a 20-30 wait; which was reasonable. Several minutes later, the host requested us to wait in our cars “to make room for the coming lunch rush”. She just asked us the leave the #empty waiting room and wait in our cars. We were not allowed to stay. We asked her again to clarify, and she indicated that they cannot have people occupy the waiting area, as the lunch rush comes in. There was enough seating in the waiting area for our entire party to be seated while waiting. We asked to speak with the manager to clarify their request. He indicated that they had requested it but he said we could now stay. We said we will honour their initial request, and had an amazing lunch at Boston Pizza.
(The owner has replied) Edit: The waiting area had sufficient seating area to seat our entire party with some to spare; and plenty of space to enter or exit your establishment.
If it were COVID protocols, then why would you keep the chairs in the lobby, or why would your general manager later ask us to stay. If your establishment can be easily swayed to bypass safety protocols, I am now questioning your integrity to follow other protocols like food safety and cleanliness.
If we were obstructing passage through your lobby by sitting on your chairs, then why have you placed chairs to sit in (and I’m not saying the chairs were placed inappropriately). I would suggest removing chairs since they, according to you, are obstructing of your patrons passage through your lobby.
Mr/Ms Owner, I appreciate your response, but your reply has many contradictions and is a poor excuse to rationalize you, your general manager or your staff’s behaviour. I am now questioning not only your establishments process, but your integrity as a business owner. I certainly wish you all the best, and may your partrons enjoy your subpar food, at highly unaffordable prices, poorly trained staff, and tiny waiting area. We certainly will not be dining with you...
