Nando's PERi-PERi — Restaurant in Surrey

Travel souvenirs. We often collect them in hopes that they’ll bring us pleasant recollections at some point in the future. Wouldn’t it be great if they were already waiting for us to return home the whole time? Thought of another way, wouldn’t it be incredible if you experienced something special while traveling far from home, only to happily cross paths with it once again years in the future?

The latter is exactly what happened to @heyhannahchandler. A California native, she embarked on a world wind tour that included a visit to South Africa. She enjoyed her meal at “Nando’s PERi-PERi” and likely thought the only souvenir she’d take home with her were her fond memories. Well imagine her surprise when years later she moved to Canada and found a “Nando’s” already waiting for her!

With a lineage like theirs, “Nando’s” is a friend that you really ought to endeavor to stay in touch with. Their dishes are largely based upon the PERi-PERi chilli that was born in Mozambique, spent its influential teenage years being influenced by Portuguese explorers, and later found its home and settled down in Rosettenville, South Africa. And you thought you had an interesting origin story!

Although their Afro-Portuguese chicken creations taste already deliciously marinated, you are more than welcome to supplement your meal from a selection of choices at their “spicy chilli sauce bar.” However, be for-warned that their Extra Hot PERi-PERi is self-described as, “Like tackling a ferociously fiery dragon.” 🐉 🥵

Fear not about wading into these molten waters of entree flavor because you’ll be able to successfully douse those flames with an order of either “Naughty Natas” or “Nando’s Kisses” from their dessert menu. (Out of an abundance of caution, we ordered both. 😉)

In addition to wonderful food, this place also offers an excellent staff that is attentive and friendly.

Haven’t had Nando’s since the UK so had to get some. Overall the chicken, fries, and peri-peri sauce are still delicious. Just disappointed by the rice and small portion size. Good for some fast chicken.

I was visiting Surrey for the day and got hungry after visiting Guildford Mall. This one was close by and still open somewhat late, so I decided to check it out. Parking is easy as it has its own parking out front. Inside the restaurant, plenty of seating, booths and tables, and has a fast food restaurant family vibe. The tables and seats are a little old and we sat ourselves. We ordered the Full Pack for 6 people and chose PERI-fries and spiced rice as our large sides. It also came with a side of garlic bread. This was about right for 6 people who were moderately hungry but could’ve used a little more food. You go up to the counter to order. The garlic bread was crispy and good for sharing. We got Lemon & Herb for the chicken, which tasted fantastic and well marinated. It basically was soft enough that it came off the bone too. The peri-peri sauce makes a good choice if you want the flavor spicier. The PERI-fries were also crispy and delicious, and a generous size for sharing. We were only disappointed by the spiced rice as it was essentially one serving of rice in a small bowl. For a large side this is pretty disappointing and hard to share. It also tasted very bland. I couldn’t taste any seasoning and it tasted like microwaved rice. There was only one waiter and there’s a 10-15 minute wait as the food cooks, but overall service is solid. The restaurant wasn’t too loud and had a chill vibe. Overall value was good for the amount you can get to feed 6 people. Recommend trying this place out for the peri-peri chicken and fries for...

We absolutely love Nando’s Guildford🇨🇦 — it’s become our second kitchen! lol Even when we’re far from home, if we ask our kids where they want to eat, their answer is always Nando’s!😋

Our whole family is obsessed with the flame-grilled chicken 🍗 — half lemon🍋 & herb and mango🥭 & lime 🍋‍🟩 are our go-to flavors! We usually order the Sizzle into Spring Platter — it’s a complete combo and just perfect for the four of us. And of course, we can’t forget the nata for dessert — always a sweet way to end the meal!

The price is very reasonable, and the service is consistently excellent. Big shoutout to Abie, Penny, and Anmol — they’re so friendly and accommodating, and they even recognize us now because this has become our go-to spot.😀
