I was down in Surrey last week and was curious to try out some authentic kebabs usually served in Indo-Pak restaurants. I did a quick look up on google and found this restaurant promising. We arrived at the restaurant late afternoon so I wasn't expecting much of traffic within restaurant. The ambience or vibe wasn't really welcoming if asthetics were to be accounted. I won't go deep in to hosting and seating aspect as it wasn't even a thing. So I get it, host / server was same person. No speciality offered or spoken about. Just handed off menu in a dead tone and we were on our own. A few moment later she showed up and our order was taken. We ordered Chapli Kebab, Seekh Kebab and four Naan. The food was delicious, fresh well done meat and more importantly the taste of spices with meat mix was just perfect. Every bite made me think I need to place a second order since 2 pcs of chapli kebab wasn't really fulfilling for a person like me. But just because there were no sides offered along with main dish I was may be I should just fillup my craving and get going. We paid around $40 Cad it came as $30 usd so for that amount I felt it was bang for buck. I wish they had some lentil or soup offered with main course or least small portion of rice will make it very appealing. In my opinion, overall experience was good if not great but food took my heart. I will definitely come back but would highly appreciate if management adds up sides to main dishes.

Best halal handi in Vancouver — a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Pakistani flavors. Their Chicken Achari Handi is a standout dish - perfectly cooked, halal, and packed with a symphony of spices that make every bite memorable. It’s not just good; it’s probably the best in town. What really adds to the experience is the staff. They’re more than just helpful; they’re genuinely supportive, guiding you through the menu with great suggestions and ensuring your dining experience is top-notch. Besides the Chicken Achari Handi, their menu is full of incredible options, we ate tikka, Madrasi chicken, roti was good but simple naan was the best. Each bite bringing a unique taste and authenticity. It’s a haven for food lovers looking for variety and quality. In essence, Pakwan House is more than a restaurant; it’s a culinary journey. The combination of their amazing Chicken Achari Handi, the variety of options, and the exceptional service makes it a must-visit spot in Vancouver for anyone who appreciates great food in a welcoming environment. Wish the entrance was more catered hi and clean or organized. Randomly spread jaye naamz looked odd. Great concept and choice though.

The pictures were taken after we had already eaten half of the food. Overall, the quality of the food at this restaurant was average. However, I experienced an unusually high level of heartburn after eating here, which is not something I typically experience. Here is a breakdown of the dishes we ordered and our assessment of each: Chicken Biryani: The chicken biryani was okay, but unfortunately, the rice wasn't fully cooked. It was disappointing because even my baby couldn't eat it due to the undercooked rice. Beef Haleem: The beef haleem was excessively oily. It tasted predominantly like cooking oil, lacking the desired flavors of masala or meat. This was quite disappointing. Beef Chapli Kabab: The beef chapli kabab, on the other hand, was good. We enjoyed its taste and quality. Garlic Naan: The garlic naan was good, no complaints about it. Mango Chicken: The mango chicken was also good. It had a pleasant flavor and met our expectations. White Rice: Unfortunately, the white rice was not fully cooked and came out hard. This was a letdown as we were expecting properly cooked rice.

I seriously don’t know what to say or where to start with Pakwan. I called to place an order, and the lady who answered was extremely rude—right off the bat, no “hi” or greeting of any kind. She acted like she had a bad day and wanted to take it out on me. I was honestly taken aback and felt like canceling my order, but by the time I got to the restaurant, it was too late.

When I arrived and approached her, she immediately put her finger up and hushed me. I was shocked—perplexed and livid. I wanted to walk out of the restaurant and even considered calling the authorities because of her behavior. Absolutely nasty. (wasn't really going to call the cops)

She wasn’t welcoming at all. She didn’t greet me—just rudely said, “What was your order?” I told her, and she responded with, “Pay here,” while pushing the machine toward me, laughing it up with her colleague. I honestly don’t understand what makes people act like this. If they’re unhappy with their pay, why work there? If they hate their boss, maybe they should quit?

I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants, and it’s always the desi ones where you either get the wrong order, encounter rude service, or find the place unclean. I’m even scared to confront them because I’ve seen what happens behind the scenes—people spitting in food or putting garbage in it if they feel challenged.

Something needs to be done about these kinds of establishments. We’re paying high prices—for God’s sake, I paid \$100 and barely filled a quarter of my stomach. What more do they want from us just to give us decent service?

Honestly, shut the place down and find...

I recently took my Vietnamese roommate to Pakwan Restaurant to introduce her to desi cuisine for the first time, and we had an incredible experience. The restaurant exceeded our expectations in every aspect.

First and foremost, the service at Pakwan was excellent. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and provided us with helpful recommendations. They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable.

As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was bursting with flavor. The authentic flavors and aromas transported us to the heart of South Asia. From the aromatic biryanis to the flavorful curries and mouthwatering kebabs, every bite was a delight. The menu offered a wide range of options, accommodating various dietary preferences, and we were pleased to discover that all the food was halal.

I highly recommend Pakwan Restaurant to anyone looking to explore and enjoy desi cuisine. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned fan, you'll be impressed by the quality of the food, the attentive service, and the overall dining experience. We left with satisfied taste buds and wonderful memories.

Thank you, Pakwan Restaurant, for the delightful experience. Keep up the...
