Bad sushi made with really low quality ingredients and lots of mayo.
I ordered for takeout. Arrived at the restaurant, it had a very nice atmosphere and the staff were very nice. If you read my other reviews, I love most anything and am rarely disappointed. As a personal standard I don't throw food out, ever. I eat at many sushi places and am rarely disappointed but we were only able to get through half this sushi before tossing it and cooking a frozen pizza. Here's what we got: Veggie green Dragon roll. It was not great, the yam was just sweet potato fries that you buy frozen at the grocery store, the avocado was fine the rice was overcooked, it was covered in mayo. Yam/sweet potato roll. This was rice on seaweed with cheap sweet potato fries (the ones frozen from the grocery store) inside and covered in a mayo sauce. Spicy butter fish. There was no fish inside, I even opened one up. It was just crispy bits with some mayo. Spicy salmon. There was some salmon in there but mostly crispy bits. The mayo was mediocre but actually had some spice which was nice. Salmon avocado roll. The rice was over cooked (like all the other rice), the salmon and avocado were good but it was covered in mayo. Salmon sashimi. This was actually really good, buttery and fresh. Miso soup. The miso soup was good. I don't know if we just caught them on an off day or if we ordered the wrong things but I've never had this low quality sushi before.
Also it was pricy pricey, rolls are $2-3 more than the usual sushi places I go to.
Half the sushi is now in the fridge and I don't know what to do with it.
I really dislike rating anything below a 3 but this was really really bad food that I was embarrassed to...
Read moreI had the most beautiful piece of tuna sashimi here. The food is so fresh and vibrant I never even knew it could look this way! I’ve been eating sushi for over two decades and in different parts of the world and I have to say I haven’t been this blown away by what I had in a very long time. After enjoying the feast for the eyes when my plate arrived I quickly started sampling the different flavours. The rolls were refreshing, eliciting thoughts of spring with every bite. The wasabi, forget about it. This was the most flavourful wasabi I have ever had. Just a small portion along with my bite would make me tear up. At least that’s what I told my mate that was making me tear up. Could’ve been the overall gastro-experience I was going through. It’s a small place that packs a big punch. If you’re ever in the area or somewhere else in the world and are looking for great sush, this place is definitely...
Read moreThis place used to be good. It used to be my favourite sushi in the city. Since end of last year or January 2024 it’s consistently downhill, consistently stale, and consistently lower quality ingredients. Something changed, and I don’t know what it is, and I’m sure management does know what changed, so please consider this message carefully and consider changing things back. I’ve ordered and ate at Aria 5 or 6 times since beginning of January and dozens of times before that. These last 5 or 6 times have been consistently terrible sushi. Like terrible, dry, no flavour, and not the quality I knew from Aria. I gave it a chance because I used to like the sushi here so much. But, since the last 6 times were consistently bad - I can’t see continuing to spend money here. I’ll delete this review if they can change it around because I’d really for them to correct...
