Ordered Hyderabadi chicken Dum Biryani ($13.99) and Dum ka Chicken ($16.99 with a comp naan) from Scarborough location of The Biryaniwala franchise at Lawrence Ave/Kennedy Rd on June 16, 2024 that was picked up around 5:45PM. Although, Chicken Dum Biryani was decent but the Dum ka Chicken entree' was extremely pathetic. I am sure other locations of The Biryaniwala franchise are better as I have tried the one on Yonge/Lawrence but this location does not live up to the standards that franchise has for its food offering. I had to trash the entire order of Dum ka chicken. There were 6-7 tiny-est pieces of chicken in Dum ka Chicken that tasted stale and old, I feared it would give me a bad stomach apart from having a strong smell of ginger-garlic paste in chicken pieces. The gravy in dum ka chicken was yogurt-based and all I could taste was raw yogurt that was not cooked out properly with specks of curdled yogurt floating in the gravy. The franchisor must inspect this location for its food-preparation protocols. First and last time for me at this location.
Addition: The people running this particular location seems to be out of touch with professionalism considering they are operating a well-known franchise in Ontario and more importantly in Canada. The 2 times I spoke to 2 different ladies during two follow-up calls from the restaurant after they read my unfavorable review with respect to the sub-standard Dum ka Chicken entree', I was denied the name by both ladies in the pretext that they have a "policy of not giving out names" as their names could be used by someone in a wrongful way as mentioned to me by them. Although, I was offered on the 2nd follow-up call to come back to their restaurant and get anything I want which I appreciate from the restaurant. However, I have no interest in driving 10km one-way to their restaurant and I am okay with my money being wasted. A good reference for future nevertheless. As someone who generally keeps track of who I speak to in case I have to prove who I spoke to should the need arise, I feel awkward/uncomfortable not knowing the name of the person I am speaking to and I generally like to address service-providers with their names instead of addressing them with "excuse me" or "this-person" and "that-person". The regional management should take note that not every customer is comfortable not knowing who they are speaking to especially when there is a transactional interaction. By not giving out their name, it reflects either they do not want to take ownership of the way run the restaurant or they simply do not want to get reported to the higher management in case a customer escalates a complaint. I have never seen any restaurant establishment not giving names in Canada saying that their names would be used in a wrong way. They all seem to want to stay under the radar in case they fumble. Very bad impression of...
Read moreThis place is always buzzing with people. Customers walking in. And I got to know why. They serve the most authentic Indian Biryani’s, Curries, Kababs. Cooked with real in-house fresh spices and ingredients. Everything 💯 certified hand slaughtered halal. I saw their kitchen & I can tell you how hygienically fresh everything is prepared inside.
Hyderabadi Dum Biryani made with perfection, tempered with real ghee. Specialities like lollipop biryani, jack fruit biryani, soya chap biryani. My favourite varieties in mutton biryani. Aromatic rice infused with spices and flavours, tender meats. But to my surprise the Jackfruit biryani was equally delicious. I also tried Dum Chicken, Mix Grill Platter and all I can say is that. Nothing falls short of delicious flavours & quality. 🙌🏻
The endless varieties in the menu are in Vegetarian, Chicken, mutton, egg. Freshly baked Patties and samosas. And the hot bubbling Irani chai with Osmania Biscuits. (Which reminded me of Bombay) It was just the same! They also serve Desserts like RasMalai, Gulab Jamun, double ka meetha & gajar ka halwa.
You can’t go wrong with their takeouts. And instructions on how to enjoy these flavours at home. They’re also running promotion until the end of this month on their fast running Bucket size trays. Read moreOrdered my Friday dinner from the newly opened Biryaniwala who claims to serve the authentic Hyderabadi biryani. However the service and taste I encountered was quite opposite to their description!!
I should have ignored this as I already had a worst experience with Chi-chas who operates Biryaniwala under same roof now.
Not sure if this is only happening to me only when i visit or if its their standards.
My kind recommendation to the management is to have a...
