Apr 2025 (3 star review): I was conflicted between 2 or 3 stars. We were without our sofa and chairs for 3 weeks, and it was inconvenient having all the seat cushions on our floor during that time. I was satisfied with the professionally done repairs to the original damages/defects, but unfortunately the sofa was returned with a new spot damaged where a bit of the colour on the corner came off the leather (I was worried this might happen during transportation). I was definitely not going to send the sofa back again even if they offered. After following up on this, Chesterfield made two offers as a small compensation. I appreciate that the repairs were professionally done and everyone I dealt with at Chesterfield from the salesperson to customer service to delivery men were polite and professional, but it's still disappointing after spending so much money. The leather damages easily and it's not something I expected when making this "investment" and not something I want to worry about. Hopefully they hold up well, but after all this, I don't think it was worth spending the thousands of dollars that we did at Chesterfield.
Mar 2025 (2 star review): I'm sorry I have to change this from a 5-star review but I discovered damages to the 3-seat leather sofa and 2 leather chairs three weeks after delivery. The leather on the back corners of all three were already peeled/cracking. We were very careful with these (not up against anything, didn't bump anything). Don't know how this could happen with high quality leather as we previously owned another set of Canadian made leather sofa and chair from another store for years without such issues. Under warranty, they are going to repair these but feel like we are taking a risk as further damage may occur during the transportation process, especially since these damages are minor at this point, and we don't know how well the repairs will be. I thought we were investing in high quality leather sofa and chairs that would last decades to come, but now it's been an inconvenience and anxious about how they will be returned. I will update my review after we receive the sofa and chairs back.
Feb 2025 (5 star review): Had a great experience with Chesterfield Scarborough location. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Olga who was very knowledgeable and spent time helping us explore different sofas and chairs and customizations based on what I was looking for. I went in thinking I wanted one specific sofa but after the second visit, ended up purchasing a modern caramel leather sofa and two matching chairs that were less expensive than the ones I originally thought I wanted, but just as beautiful. They were delivered in 6 weeks on time and without issues. Was also gifted a rug and leather conditioner from the store. Looking forward to enjoying our new sofa and chairs. I am changing my star rating again because today I was reminded that the people who actually deliver the furniture and set it up are the kindest and most professional group of men. Today's delivery men had been here before and remembered us.
After a lot of back and forth with the office, and the delay stemming from the manufacturer, the people from the Chesterfield Shop bent over backwards to correct something that was out of their control. I respect that.
I will no doubt be back, and will continue to recommend to family and friends, with the caveat of being mindful that the manufacturer is the one responsible for any delays, not the Chesterfield Shop.
I am editing my review that I've left as is below. Let me start with saying that my original review was on the heels of working with Olga in the showroom and handing over our visa for payment. The excitement of having your living room completely upgraded was a satisfying thought. But wait, delivery was ridiculously slow.
Delivery has been scattered. First we received one recliner and two side tables....weeks later we received the loveseat....now nearly 6 months later we are still awaiting our swivel accent chair. Every month I call and am told that it hasn't arrived yet, but scheduled next month. Here we are at the end of 2024 and I have yet to have my living room completely furnished. I was told last week it will be here last week of December or first week of January.
Let me be clear to the Chesterfield Shop, if I continue to get the run around by your office staff, I can assure you I will be in your store before the year is up and demanding a complete refund.
Our second time back to The Chesterfield Shop to purchase furniture for our home. The first time was 20 years ago for our family room and now this time for our Living room. Buying new furniture can be very stressful but Olga made it so easy. She was kind, patient and funny. Read moreWhile the sales staff is knowledgeable and polite the rest has to be fixed. A friend referred me, she ordered her sofa a week before me and got it 2 months before me. No phone calls on updates, unless I called. Then several days later a phone call saying late January. Late January comes and goes, then I make another phone call. No courtesy call back. I did get an email several days later stating pandemic related issues. Again several days. Then when it did arrive and a message was left on my voicemail that wasn't working no call back from their office after more than a week. I found out when I made a formal complaint on Facebook. Then and only then was I put in touch with customer service. Not once were we told about supply chain issues. They just try to sell you something fast and out the door with you. You should be given a choice of these fabrics available now. Or those that have no supply chain issues. I do accounting for a living, and know how these things work. The main frames of the sofa's are built in bulk. Waiting for the orders to come in so the ordered cushions and fabric can be applied. Terrible service after we left the store.
EDIT: In your reply you failed to address the customer service after order was placed. So no excuse for that. It wasn't until I posted on Facebook complaining, that I was given a name and number for customer service. It was then I found out about the phone call stating it was in. How much longer would it have taken to get my sofa if I had not complained? Would I still be without it? It should not have taken so long to call me after my 2 inquiries. My second inquiry I didn't even get the courtesy call. But an email. I lived in the area for 38 years, and was told never to go there. Then someone I knew got a sofa there the week before I did and was impressed. You talk of the reputation of 74 years. I know from living a mile away for 38 years many neighbours told us horror stories. The locals know. So when I heard a positive and no luck finding what we wanted we went there.
