Unfortunately, came to this restaurant on September 13 for lunch @ noon with fellow co-workers. Ordered what was advertised to be a leg of lamb for a hefty lunch price of $28. I was forced to order off the lunch menu as the waiter told me "it would be too difficult for the kitchen to make any dishes aside from the lunch menu at this time". I understand now what he meant because they hadn't cooked anything fresh yet that day. It was too difficult to make eggs, but they told me to have the leg of lamb because it was delicious.
What I was served was two thin slices of what looked like leather, thinner than a sliced tomato. The meat was swimming in a pool of garlic sauce to mask the fact this lamb had been made the previous night. They attempted to save it by heating it up in the microwave for what tasted like 8 minutes. My plate was burning hot. The potatoes, veggies and meat were obviously heated up in the microwave. The meat didn't even taste like lamb.
To serve this to someone for that advertised description and price is absolutely disgusting. If the food wasn't disgusting enough, they forced an automatic 18% gratuity (after tax by the way) onto the bill.
Lastly, it took two hours by the time we got our food and paid for our bill.
I only stumbled into this place not by choice and will never eat here or recommend this place to anyone after my experience. The restaurant owner and staff...
Read more“Old School Service” like the good old days unlike today… truly you cannot find a restaurant like this anymore. Exceptional service, intimate environment, great staff and very accommodating. Min (owner) and Anthony (chef) are so personable, friendly and like what everyone says “they treat you like family”. The restaurant is definitely one of a kind. Food is good, my favourite is the seafood pasta with tomato sauce. (Seafood was plump, sauce was tasty, can’t comment on the pasta since I am avoiding carbs but my parents lapped it up lol) We ordered ceasar salad, onion soup, lamb with shrimp, scallop main, steak, salmon, seafood pasta, tiramisu and the selected cheese cake with a candle on it -was on the house. (Came with birthday choir too.) Oh let’s not forget, the wine is good! Price wise- surprisingly very affordable. It was my dad’s birthday, a party of 4 and our first time visiting. Min made it so special for us. Really appreciated that. Definitely a memorable experience and will definitely come back. We all had a wonderful time. I absolutely, 100% recommend Bumpkins. (Thank you Min! You made our evening special and gave my dad a memorable...
Read moreWe were in Toronto from Northern Ontario and dined here this past Tuesday (my wife, my son, daughter-in-law and I). the atmosphere and the service were great. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable and the food was excellent. We had a very leisurely meal including appetizers, main course and dessert--lasted over 2 hours and included Escargot, steamed mussels, avocado & crab salad, and grilled calamari. Dinner included Seafood Maison, veal chop, lobster tails, and Atlantic salmon. Everything was extremely tasty and done to perfection. Their "Bumpkin's pan fried potatoes" were also to die for. Veggies were also fresh and crispy & done just right. The ladies finished off with the cheese cake for dessert, again, extremely tasty and light with REAL whipped cream. Couldn't have asked for better and their prices are very reasonable. It's no wonder this restaurant has been around for over 30 years. Also got a kick out of seeing our local Provincial Member of Parliament's picture hanging on the wall---he's got good taste. Absolutely would recommend...
