Just to update my review, you can see below that I received a response from the establishment, which is less than apologetic to say the least. I wouldn't go about responding to a disgruntled customer by suggesting that there was miscommunication "stemming from both sides", but that's just me (and probably any other person who has ever worked in customer service). That all being said, I wanted to clarify that whereas the establishment is suggesting in their reply to me that accommodating more people at my table would've made the other table in our room uncomfortable, that is absolutely not the case – I spoke to a gentleman at that table who confirmed that only 10 of their guests had shown up, and when I politely asked him if I could take one of the empty chairs from their table to mine, he actually did reply to me with a smile and pleasantness...the exact thing that was sorely missing from the Storm Crow Manor staff. Visit this establishment at your own risk!
The service at this restaurant is unfortunately terrible, which is a real shame because the atmosphere is cool. We went to this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. We made a reservation for 8 guests because that is how many people RSVP'd prior to the day. However, we had 10 guests show up. For whatever reason, rather than being accommodating, the staff told us they could absolutely not under any circumstances accommodate 2 extra people at a table with a large bench on one side and ample room at both ends for an extra chair. Perhaps some people will say that is fair based on our reservation, but I have never in my life had a restaurant refuse to seat 2 extra people at a table. Sure, if I had asked for 5 more people to be accommodate, that is fine, but this is just absurd customer service. In any case, the host did tell us he could give us a second table in the adjacent room for our 2 extra guests and our party could go back and forth. From a business perspective, this makes zero sense because he was willing to give us a second table that seated 6 people for 2 additional guests...but fine, their loss. The reason I was so annoyed is that, when one of our friends arrived late, they were told that our table was "at capacity" and were made to feel extremely embarrassed. Although they were given the option to sit at this second table, we were not informed, and only found out when our friend decided to leave because they were so uncomfortable. We were not given the opportunity to even greet our friend because we did not know they were there. Is this not a ridiculous and avoidable oversight? Ultimately, the host and server said that if the other table in our room had less guests show up, we could accommodate more people at our table. That makes sense, it's simple math. But when the other table ended up having 3 less people show up, and I proceed to welcome my 2 extra guests into the room with completely adequate space, the staff were extremely rude and said they could not have more than 8 people at our table. (I'll admit that this led me to become super rude in return, which I do regret because I am generally not that kind of person at all, but I was at my wit's end at this point.) Once again, this was a question of simple math: minus 3 from one side of the room, plus 2 on the other side. Eventually the staff agreed with our logic, but this was after the damage was done and one of our friends left out of sheer embarrassment and frustration. I will never return to this restaurant. The staff have chips on their shoulders and have no idea what basic customer service is. Maybe they are overworked, I have no idea, but after years of working in the service industry myself, I can't imagine being so unaccommodating under such absolutely low stakes circumstances. Ultimately, this place thinks it can get away with a lot of shitty behaviour because of cool décor, but I personally would never recommend it. When a table is spending over $1,500.00 easily within the night, you accommodate their requests with a smile and pleasantness...
Read moreGreat themed pub with lots to see and fun vibes! Lots of references to nerdy stuff, fantasy memorabilia, and sci-fi-themed items. It's definitely a place to be for a great time, experiential drinking and dining, and also RNG'ing your night away. Highly recommended!
The manor is separated into several weird and fantastical sections like their Mary Shelly Bar, Eclectic Cthulhu Pub, Cyberpunk Post-Apocalyptic Lounge, Heaven and Hell alcoves, and their secret Black Lodge Cocktail Bar. There are tons of pictures, sculptures, and other fun things decorated around the pub. Near the entrance, they have an area for their Storm Crow Shop and other trinkets as well.
Our group had reserved a table for 8+ people and we were stationed in the Mary Shelly Bar side of the manor. The waiter, Ethan, was very friendly, followed up with our tables, and ensured we got everything we needed! They have a great system of handheld devices that helped with the ordering system. Service was very quick and food and beverages came fairly promptly as well.
The menu is all virtual via a QR code on the tables, which leads you to the Storm Crow website's dine-in menu page. Their menu covers various categories like the Drinks, Food, and most fun of all, their random shots and dungeon burger sheet! Based on a supplied 20-sided dice, our group had a fun time randomly rolling shots and ordering from their dungeon burger sheet to generate their burger.
Beverages were very tasty with some highlights like the Release The Kraken, Miskatonic Gin, and Dark Side Bowl. The shareable beverages came with some theatrics as well. Some of the beverages came with dry ice or ice cube lights for some visual effect. The food was delicious with some highlights like the Legendary Chickpea Fries, Calamari of Cthulhu, Lickitung's Lavish Tofu Lettuce Wraps, Swamp Thing's Louisiana Linguine, and the dungeon burger. All of the choices were delicious and definitely need to explore the rest of the menu!
Edit: We came back for another event and unfortunately the Darth Vader beverage is off the menu. However, we tried the Lickitung's Lavish Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Vegeta-bowl of noodles (with Cajun shrimp) and the Redshirt Chicken Curry. Our waitress, Tegan was very nice and served us in the Black Lodge Cocktail Bar which was open on...
Read moreChoosing Storm Crow Manor as the venue to host my graduation dinner was the best decision I've made so far.
TL;DR: I can't wait to come to Storm Crow again in the future, with a smaller group (or a nerdier one. The group size doesn't matter; the group vibe does. The servers are the stars of the show at Storm Crow, making the food and drinks just as exciting to have. Fair warning: Budget is a CONSIDERATION. If you're a trinket lover then come to Storm Crow.
Sarah, their event coordinator, was kind and quick when setting up the reservation a month in advance. I went with a group of 14 people, so gratuity, tax, and a minimum spend is required to have that size. She was transparent with details and was incredibly accommodating with reservation times.
Alex was our server for the night, and she handled our group so well. We were the last table for the night, and she organized our chaos while staying professional in her job. You can tell that every server loves their job, as they become performers when handing out the food. Alex helped us coordinate our D20 shots, our Dungeon meals, and was quick to help my friends choose alternate options that weren't available. Whenever I go back to Storm Crow, I hope to see her again and give her more gifts :) (PSA: TREAT YOUR SERVERS WITH SO MUCH RESPECT)
The food experience felt otherworldly. The performance and excitement that comes with the dungeon meals makes me want to come back. The portions were great, and the nachos were great to share! The prices may look a little intimidating, but when you grab a good group to split the food, it makes it easier on the wallet. (Also, please order the Llama potion. The fact that the lights were going crazy, music was playing, and the servers were playing along with the bit was WONDERFUL)
I loved the Eclectic Pub, it was a cozy place to settle for the night. It was warm, inviting, and the seats were comfortable.
I can't thank the Storm Crow crew enough for making my graduation dinner so memorable, by working with our time and group size. Storm Crow is a staple visit for people looking to come to explore Toronto. Can't wait to...
