This place is my new favourite Friday lunch spot. I never had a roti with full butter chicken filling, potatoes and all. But beware of those spices, people. They are a notch hotter that you would expect, which is why they introduced the "in between" levels, and this is how it works - "mild" is in my opinion a waste of your money; the spices make up this food, so avoid this and take one for the team (mouth) and order "medium" even if you end up regretting it a few hours later, it's worth it. The new level is "mild-medium" which will get you a hint of the actual taste, but with no regrets later. Anything past "medium" requires months of prep, people. If you take your wings "suicidal" and you consume them often, try it, but consider yourself warned. The place gets packed between 12-1, so expect to either wait or not get to order at all, as I experienced last Friday. Smarter thing to do is to order via Ritual and pick up (or eat in), but expect 45 minute prep time. Speaking of eating in, there are a few tables on the lower level, but you'll feel like you're eating in on a subway train. Go upstairs, they have an amazing loft with plenty of seating space and a communal table.

Can’t beat the aroma as you walk by. Their staff is super helpful and friendly. Shub specifically treats everyone really well and does a great job of explaining the differences of the different gravies. Their highest spice level (6) is Indian Spicy, so be careful. We had the Tikka Masala roti which is a good spicy alternative if you don’t want the creaminess of the Butter Chicken. Great quantity! Also recommend the Curry Paneer (my favorite so far) and Mutter Paneer. The Korma has a cashew flavor so is a good mix of creamy and spicy. They have tons of other options (see pictures) for snacks and sides. There’s also a bar with cheap cocktails and beers. Basically a great place to have a quick lunch or a long dinner!

I recently visited Butter Chicken Roti and had an overall pleasant experience. The food was decent, with a nice balance of flavors, though I found it a bit mild for my taste. As someone who enjoys a bit more spice, I felt the dishes could have used a stronger kick to elevate the flavor profile. That said, the quality of ingredients and the portion sizes were satisfying. The service was prompt, and the staff were courteous, which added to the experience. If you prefer milder Indian cuisine or are new to it, this place might be just right for you. For spice lovers, you might want to ask for extra heat when ordering. Overall, a solid spot for a quick meal, but a little more spice would make it even better.

What a joke. Terrible service (how can take-out be hard?) They advertised a promotion where first 100 customers got 1/2 price Butter Chicken Roti. Restaurant was not busy (maybe 4 other customers) when I arrived, about 1hr after opening but the counter dude CLAIMED the 100th customer was already served. Oh well; I order same item, butter chicken roti. It took almost 20 minutes for my order, after supposedly making one approximately every 36 seconds during the previous hour! TOTAL B.S. what liars. It tasted fine but not special, and is WAY too small to charge $15. Not even close to value you can get at other roti spots. Oh, and the music was awful, terrible hip-hop with explicit lyrics, totally inappropriate for a place of business. They'll probably get plenty of student clientele being across from George Brown, but they don't deserve it. Embarrassing....

The Butter Chicken Roti location on King Street East, has been consistently great. From curries to regular dishes, taste and freshness is never a concern. The portions are quite large, I end up having some for lunch and a snack a bit later on.

I will say that the staff here during the day has always been friendly. I was consistently ordering on a weekly basis as I was between moves and not able to bring lunch. They took notice and engaged with me a bit more.

Due to my diet i'm generally gluten free and limited with my dairy options. The tandoori chicken comes with basmati rice and a salad in a box with mint chutney. Its perfect for a nice healthy lunch combo, and probably overlooked! Also recommend the seekh kabob, that comes in a similar way for anyone looking for a gluten free...
