Nice park with plenty of trees for shade! Can get very busy during lunch time and on weekends! Undesirable type of people frequent the park as well, usually loitering around the north side! Unfortunately, we can't exactly do anything about that unless they are committing a crime! A few weeks ago I was laying down relaxing and woke to find a woman standing over me holding the handle to my umbrella in one hand and the rest of it in the other! She started rambling about how she had to taken my umbrella and used it to beat another woman! I could not see any other person around and was still drowsey from my nap, so I didn't really understand what was going on! I assumed two scumbags got into a quarrel, which is no big issue to me ! I asked for some money to replace my broken $75 umbrella, but she claimed she had none! Told her I would call the police and she told me to do just that! I just gave up and moved to another part of the park! A few minutes later several police cars arrived with sirens blaring! Looked over and saw same woman sitting on a picnic table in handcuffs, surrounded by several police! Went over and spoke to one of the officers and handed over my broken umbrella parts as evidence for court! Apparently, she beat this other woman pretty badly! The moron actually thinks that she was completely in the right by walking into the park, taking my umbrella, going back to find the victim, beating her with my umbrella, then returning to the park to wake me and inform me that she was sorry she had broken my umbrella, but needed to use it to beat the victim! It was completely stunning and mind boggling! She will likely take a plea deal and not even do any time in jail! It's an open-and-shut case! It's just sad that people like that go around committing crimes like this, while blowing that they are 100% in the right! They might get arrested, but usually do little or no time! Then they are back out to the same public places and endangering the lives of innocent people again It's just sad that we're too politically correct these days to do anything about scum like that! This is not a matter of somebody with mental illness, but a person with a completely screwed-up value system! Too many of those roam...
Read moreBeautiful city park. Flowers are planted every spring and local concerts can be held here. You'll often find people just lazing around for their lunch breaks or on weekends. The newest edition of the park is the Market playground (its design mimicks the St Lawrence Market). It is for all children of different ages. So there is a variety of play equipment. It's a small playground so it does get packed at peak times. playground equipment includes small slides, big slide, monkey bars, rope bridge, tower climb, swings (regular, infant, disability), merry-go-round, balancing beams, Water Fountain (note not splash pad), picnic tables, Soft Playground surface for safety. Includes a swing for kids with disabilities and an unofficial ramp to the small slides. No washrooms but many restaurants and coffee shops near by. accessible via King street car No...
Read moreI would suggest not to come here. We passed by St James Catholic church, which happened to ring its bell at that moment for the hour and the church itself was quite amazing to see. When we walked around the back of the church to get to the park, we accidently walked into a group of drug addicts and a drunk person stumbling about. Right behind them, the entire grassy area on the left was filled with tents of homeless people. I did not feel comfortable taking photos of all of this and just want to get out of the park. On the right was the playground for kids, and several parents with their kids were there. Personally I would not suggest coming here, as it seemed unsafe and very unwise of those parents to have their kids play so close to drunk and drugged people sharing...
