One thing is a bad experience, but getting scammed is a league of its own. Me and my daughter came to Landwer Spadina on Friday night. We ordered an entree each plus a side fries. Soon the waitress returned saying that they are out of Humus and Falafel which are required for those entries and that we must select something else. So my daughter made another choice and asked for no caramelized Onions which the waitress said it would be done. While waiting, strong smell of burnt meat erupted fro the kitchen. When the dishes came out they were served without utensils - I had to let the waitress know before we got them. The dish my daughter got was full of caramelized onions which she explicitly asked not to have and the waitress just dismissed her that there's nothing she can do about it - so my daughter had to take all the onions out. We never got the fries. After we were done the waitress came with the payment machine though we did not ask for it yet. I asked to see the bill but she said I can only get it after I paid. So I had no choice and paid first and even added undeserved 15% tip. Then I took the bill and started walking out. Then I looked at it: I was charged not only for the 2 entrees we ordered, but also for the 2 we were told are unavailable, and the fries we never got. I had to raise my voice to get a refund and the correct bill. This time of course I didn't leave a Tip. I wonder how many customers were scammed there without noticing. I almost was. Will ever set a foot there again. And I forgot tom mention that the food was terrible and the portions...

I visited Café Landower recently and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish.
We were greeted by a waitress who placed the menus on our table abruptly, without a smile or basic courtesy. When we were ready to order, her manner felt rushed and disengaged. I ordered a sandwich. Oddly, my dining partner was asked about food allergies, but I was not — a basic question that should be consistent for all guests. Service continued to feel inattentive and inconsistent throughout our visit.
When it came time to pay, a second waitress asked us to list our own items for a separate bill, which suggested a lack of attention to detail. The overall impression was that our presence was an inconvenience rather than a valued part of their business.
The ambiance of the café is pleasant, but service quality matters just as much, if not more. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I cannot...
Read moreI wanted to give Cafe Landwer Spadina the benefit of the doubt, and went in for a second dinner after a very disappointing meal when they first opened.
Unfortunately, the second visit was even worse than the first. The food is bland, overpriced, and overhyped. The fries that came with my partner's burger could be found in the frozen section of the grocery store, and were served undercooked. The dish I ordered featured rubbery, bland chicken, and their idea of "grilled vegetables" was a soggy quarter of a tomato. Our server acknowledged that they had received a number of complaints about this dish in particular.
I'm not one to complain about food, but at $70 for two (with no alcohol) for a dinner we did not enjoy at all, we asked to speak with the manager to see if we could get a discount. We were met with a rude, condescending, and dismissive attitude that confirmed we will never be back. It's a shame because this place was much anticipated in our neighbourhood, but save your money, time, and tastebuds and...
