I came here for the first time with a group of 10

The food overall was pretty good. there were some certain items that were great standouts and other items that really were below average.

We decided to do appetizers and drinks first as well as mains.

For Apps, we got the following: Chili chicken Amritsar Fish Chicken 65 Gobhi Manchurian Paneer 65

honestly all these were all really good, especially the chicken 65 which was pretty spicy.

For Mains, we got the following: A few Masala Dosas Mutton Biryani Chicken Biryani Butter Chicken Garlic Naan & Plain Naans

Most of these items were great, but the Dosas were stale and I found the Butter Chicken to taste pretty sweet. One main issue was that both Biryanies were served significantly later than the rest of the mains, which kind of made for an awkward experience.

I was also a little disappointed to see that the beverages were served in to-go containers like the mango lassi was in a plastic container with a lid and straw as well. the filtered coffee was served in to go hot coffee cups with lids.

something else that was pretty frustrating was that they offered solo biryani pots and buckets of biryani, but you could only order those for takeout. they were not an option when you dine in.

overall the service was pretty good. There was quite a few times where we had to ask for quarter plates, utensils, more water, etc.

I was also really surprised that the staff actually asked us to wrap it up once we were done. I think there are better ways to encourage customers to leave sooner like serving the food quicker, cleaning up quicker and bringing the bill promptly.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The food was decent, the service was ok, and the value for money was good.

A few things to consider They do not accept reservations, walk ins only They have a 60 to 75 minute dining time limit Certain foods take a while to be brought to your table such as the biryanies They offer a 10% discount if...

We stepped into this place and the seating area atmosphere was nice, although the other half of the restaurant looked quite undone. I was here with a non-indian guest from the United Kingdon, who was visiting. The service here is dismall and both my guest and I were extremely uncomfortable. Not just one server, but multiple people would completely ignore me, turns their side to me, and only talk and look at my guest. Even for things I ordered. I didn't exist. We ordered one of the biryanis and the server told me that they can add raw hot chilli.. why is it that the order came without it, and then proceeded to tell me they can bring chilli out for me. I said fine. They brought whole chillies, not even chopped and told me I'd need to chop it up myself. Needless to say the only thing I enjoyed was the chilli naan, Gobi Manchurian, and masala Chai, even though every time someone came to the table they would completely ignore me. The biryani didn't taste good, and the fact that I had to chop something myself when it should have arrived done as requested (and which the waitress agreed to) turned me off even more re: that item. I had to speak to the manager later. He comped the biryani, and apologized, and said that he would train his staff better. I have never experienced such ignorance from waiters/waitresses. Was it because I am a dark skinned person? What was the reason? Ridiculous. Inbetween items, no one checked in on us either to see if we needed water refilled etc.

I would give service 0 stars but that isn't an option.

Needless to say my guest said if she ever came back to visit Canada she would not visit this place with what she...

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER – Unsafe Food & Disrespectful Service!

I used to genuinely enjoy the food at this restaurant and even recommended it to others in the past. But after my recent visit, I was left completely disappointed and frustrated — this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

Yesterday, I ordered the weekend special fry piece chicken biryani. Before ordering, I even asked the staff member who was cleaning next to our table for a recommendation — and he confidently suggested this dish. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge mistake.

The biryani was absolutely horrible. The rice tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge and just microwaved. The chicken was frozen and undercooked. At first, when it was still warm, the flavor was just tolerable — but as soon as it cooled, the rice turned hard and rubbery like plastic rice.

Even worse, there were small shattered bone pieces mixed throughout the rice — a serious choking hazard and completely unacceptable.

What shocked me the most was the response when I politely gave my feedback while paying the bill — the same person who recommended the dish just smiled. No apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. That kind of attitude is unacceptable, especially from a restaurant that claims to value its customers.

I absolutely hate wasting food, but the biryani was so bad that two of us couldn’t even finish one portion. That’s how terrible it was.

This place has clearly lost all standards. I will never visit Charminar again and I strongly urge others to stay away too. Bad food, no accountability, and dangerous negligence — not worth anyone’s...

Update August 2020 : Best authentic biryani place. My favourites: Pachi Mirchi, Vijaywada Special. —————— Great authentic flavours, had Paneer Tikka Masala which tasted like Butter Paneer Masala (but tasted great), Charminar Special Egg Curry it was spicy & delicious. Good thing was these two dishes came with a choice of Naan/Rice, plus we ordered Onion and Chilli Kulchas, all tasted good and fresh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We also ordered Pav Bhaji (basic & blend in taste) and Chole Bhature (Cinnamon was in abundance in Chole, Bhature although looked special because of triangle shape stinked of overused oil) big disappointment, realised we went wrong with this order, this is not a place to order Pav Bhaji ❌ and Chola Bhatura❌. We ordered everything together, surprisingly main course came quickly, while Chole Bhature came after we finished our mail course & Pav Bhaji came after we finished Chole Bhature, arrival of these didn’t make sense ⏰ also made us realise we ordered unusual items. Taking out 1 star ⭐️ because of this. Suggestions: - It will be highly appreciated if you could let people know in advance X items will take more time and let them decide if they want to change the order or keep main course on hold and wait - This way you are indirectly telling your customer X is not our popular/running dish (I would have taken a hint) - If customer is telling you its their first visit there is no harm in educating your customer about your specialty Saw Biryani almost at all the tables, a friend recommended me this place for Biryani, we were too full after having all this, definitely going back to try Biryani..😋

Basically: order their biryanis, you won't be disappointed, they're all soooo good!! Rest is average. We usually order the ghee dosa, chicken 65 biryani, and chole bhatura. Never dined-in, always to-go. Dosa: Crispy, light, tasty. Sambhar is also tasty. But no potato filling comes with the dosa, that's an extra charge. The chutneys are horrible. Firstly, there is no coconut or red chutney that you usually get. There's this very weird tasting creamy peanut chutney and some other weird tasting orange chutney. Very bad! Chole Bhature: The chole are itself are soft and cooked well. They look rich in flavour BUT the taste is only cardamon. Every bite you feel like you're eating a spoon full of cardamom. Too overpowering. The bhature are not your usual round bhature. They're almost like swollen papdi (see pic for reference) , taste is good though not rubbery. Chicken 65 biryani: The only item with no complaints. Great flavours, large quantity, soft chicken, well cooked rice. UPDATE: Went into dine-in. Expect a wait of 20-30 mins on busy days. The staff is extremely friendly & helpful. The chicken 65 dosa was awesome. The mixed veg uthappam was a bit dry but still tasty. The Hyderabadi dum biryani was great!!!
