Based on my experience today, Chuck’s Roadhouse is operated by what seem to be stingy, shady, dishonest people who don’t deserve my hard-earned dollar.
My family used to go to the Dundas location. Today we decided to try the Eglinton location. We had a $5 off coupon from the Dundas location that had no restrictions or an expiration date written on it.
I asked our waitress if we could use it and she said she’d have to check with the owner (?) or manager (?) Surjitpal, by phone.
When I followed up 10 minutes later about the coupon, the waitress told me that her boss Surjitpal said they won’t honour the coupon because it was from another location. Wow…!
It wasn’t the $5 that I was unhappy about, but the principle of it, since nowhere did it say on the coupon that it was only for the location where it was given. It said valid at “Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill”. I earned the coupon by spending money with this restaurant chain.
Plus our order would have ended up a little over $100 so it seemed very ungracious to deny a legit $5 coupon in comparison, and I would have given it back through the tip. A disgraceful way to treat customers.
Since the food hadn’t arrived yet, our family decided to get up to leave simply out of principle, and let Surjitpal the owner or manager know that you don’t treat customers like that without consequence.
There’s literally a dozen nice restaurants in walking distance and if they’re going to be dishonest (the coupon didn’t restrict location) and stingy ($5 off a $100+ tab) then I’m not rewarding them with my business.
When we got up to leave, the waitress seemed panicked and said she’d honour it. What?? Then why not say that to START WITH? Sorry but the goodwill and good cheer IS NOW GONE.
I told her that I planned to leave a negative review and warn folks exactly who they’re dealing with, and then she said she’d double it and take $10 off our bill. Unreal. It was never about the money.
So too late with offers. We were past that once we stood up to leave. It boggles the mind that if she had the authority to give me $10 off, then why didn’t she honour the coupon to start with??
Her boss Surjitpal showed me what kind of people they are, and not only did they lose several customers for life, but also anyone who might be influenced by this review.
These people DO NOT deserve our business. Happy ending though… we had a truly wonderful...

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our visit to Chuck’s Roadhouse was a complete disaster from start to finish. We waited at least 15 minutes before even getting drinks — and that was just the beginning.
We ordered pasta with marinara sauce for our daughter, who has a dairy allergy. When it arrived, it had cheese on it. When we informed the waitress, she gave my wife a dirty look — and then proceeded to give the same look to our 4-year-old daughter. Yes, a grown adult glaring at a toddler.
Next, she placed a full glass of soda in front of our 18-month-old son — which, of course, was immediately knocked over (because toddlers). Her response? A casual “oops” as she walked away, handing us a few napkins. No mop, no rag, no help. We were left to clean it ourselves as the soda soaked the table, the floor, and eventually our silverware.
When our food finally came, only 2 of the 5 meals were brought out — and she placed them right on the wet, sticky mess we were still trying to clean. We again asked for help. She told us “someone would be coming.” Instead, she went to take the order of a large table that appeared to be full of her friends — joking and chatting while we were still waiting for basic service.
Another 10 minutes passed before the remaining food arrived. Still no refill, no mop, and the spill was still sitting there. We had to ask again for silverware and more napkins just to make the table usable. When we asked for the mop again, she simply disappeared.
We finally flagged down a manager. Only then did the waitress reappear — with a mop, while we were speaking to him. He apologized and offered dessert (which was useless since they didn’t have any dairy-free options for our daughter). He said he’d adjust the bill and bring the refill that never came.
When the check arrived? No sign of any discount — unless he meant not charging for the wrong kids meal they had to remake. Food was mediocre at best, but honestly, it was the service that made this one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had.
Save yourself the time and frustration. Chuck’s Roadhouse is not worth it — especially if you have dietary restrictions, young kids, or expect even the bare...
Read moreI’ve been to several Chuck’s Roadhouse locations, so I know what to expect — casual service and simple drinks — but this visit was surprisingly disappointing. My go-to drink is a dirty vodka martini, and while I didn’t expect anything fancy, I did at least expect it to be made correctly.
When I ordered, the bartender asked if I wanted to make it a double, and I said no but requested it extra dirty. I then watched him make the drink without adding any olive juice. After handing me the drink, he mentioned that next time I should order it as a double because of the specific ounce measurements Chuck’s uses — something that would’ve been helpful before I ordered, not after. Still, double or not, the drink wasn’t made correctly; it was just vodka and vermouth.
I politely asked another bartender for some olive juice so I could fix the drink myself, but after checking both the bar and the back, she told me they didn’t have any. Recognizing the inconvenience, she kindly offered me a new drink, and we lightheartedly joked about how “it’s Chuck’s, what can you expect.” I accepted and ordered a spicy margarita. Unfortunately, while it was made with the right ingredients, the margarita mix itself was terrible — but at least it was technically correct.
When we asked to settle the bill, our server brought the payment machine but didn’t give us a receipt. Since we were in a rush, we didn’t think much of it at first. However, before leaving, we asked for the receipt only to discover we were charged for the margarita as a “remake” drink — even though I never got the dirty martini I actually ordered. To top it off, they upcharged the margarita from a regular size to a “Chuck size” without informing us.
What made the experience worse was the server joking on our way out that we should come back in a few weeks so he could make me “the best dirty martini ever” — fully acknowledging the first drink wasn’t made right, yet still charging us for both.
I didn’t walk into Chuck’s expecting high-end service, but I did expect basic honesty and competence. It felt like ordering a rum and Coke, only to be told they’re out of Coke and then being charged extra for the rum. Disappointing, to...
