I am a Bangladeshi, and the owner of this restaurant is also likely Bangladeshi. The food prices here are reasonable, which is why my friends and I often come here for lunch. The taste of the food is good, and the overall environment is fairly decent. However, there are some aspects that are quite disappointing.
There is an employee at the restaurant who wears a cap — his behavior is highly unprofessional. He lacks sincerity and does not know how to interact politely with customers. He is also careless about cleanliness; I have often seen him serve food without reheating it properly, and sometimes he touches the food without washing his hands after touching his head or nose. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable.
Today, I ordered chicken biryani and requested some onions to go with it. Shockingly, I was told that I would have to pay extra for the onions! Normally, onions are provided complimentary with items like biryani, and demanding additional payment for it is both unusual and inappropriate.
While the food is satisfactory, the service and the rude behavior of certain staff members are far from acceptable. I sincerely hope the management takes these issues seriously and brings necessary improvements.
I would also request the owner to ensure that staff members are well-trained in cleanliness, hygiene, and customer service. Otherwise, the reputation of the restaurant could suffer, and it may eventually lead to a loss...
Read moreYou don’t go to Curry Kitchen & Falafel House for the ambiance. Hell, you barely go there for the lighting, the signage, or any visible assurance that this establishment wasn’t a front for a money-laundering operation in a past life. No, you go here because somewhere behind the grease-smudged glass and the flickering fluorescent tube is a man who knows how to cook. And doesn’t give a damn about reviews.
Tucked just off Mutual and Dundas, where the city’s glamour politely averts its eyes, this little box of culinary defiance serves up some of the best goddamn food west of the DVP. The butter chicken is unapologetically rich, the samosas walk the line between crispy and dangerous, and the falafel? It’s the kind of spiced, golden nugget that could settle political disputes in the Middle East, if only anyone bothered to try.
The place looks like it was decorated in a rush—by a man being chased. But there’s a quiet dignity to its neglect. A fridge humming too loud, chairs that wobble like your teetotaller buddy after two whiskeys, and a counter guy who treats small talk like a personal insult. I respect that.
In a world obsessed with branding and fake authenticity, Curry Kitchen & Falafel House doesn’t play the game. It just shows up, does its thing, and lets the food do all the talking. It’s not pretty—but neither is truth. And this place? It’s serving both - In styrofoam boxes in small and...
Read morethe place and their biryani is a huge scam. the last time the darker skinned man who’s always there in front. lied and denied it. saying the biryani is never watery and soggy. and the same thing again because the other biryani place before them was out for the night. they just take your $7 and give you a hot plate of water mixed and rice. that you have to throw away. basically throwing your money away. because you can’t eat or swallow it. and having to go to bed hungry. STAY VERY FAR AWAY, I REPEAT STAY VERY VERYYYYY FARRRRR AWAYYYY THEY ARE HUGE SCAMMERS. IF YOU WANT BIRYANI, GO TO THE INDIAN RESTAURANT BEFORE THE GRILLIES, RIGHT BEFORE THEM AND ADJACENCT TO THE CANNABIS STORE. AND MIND YOU I GOT THIS BIRYANI YESTERDAY AT 9pm when it was still not even closing time and it was a complete pile of mush, like the first time, it was literally water and rice, where the rice is completely soft mushy rice with so much water. I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. IF YOURE A FAN OF ACTUALLY EATING AND NOT WASTING MONEY. THEN STAY VERY FARRRRRRR AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS. ALSO THE INDIAN BIRYANI IS ALSO $7 with nice crisp and sweet biryani rice and sauces. YOU CAN...
