Hi ! I really hope the owner reads these bc while this may be a 5 star review, this will also be a criticism, and I hope you will read and it creates an opportunity for better growth.

The coffee and pastries here are very good and the cafe is nice and cozy and inviting. I have been to this cafe twice, once today briefly to just grab a latte and once a few months ago in May, when I stayed a hour or so catching up with some friends.

Both times, the woman whom I assume is the owner has been very loudly and vocally reprimanding her staff in front of customers at the front of house. She'll switch to a different language (I can't remember if it was Japanese or Korean) occasionally but she'll still be telling her staff exactly how they should be doing things, if they made a mistake, and it would all be very uncomfortable to overhear.

The fact that this has happened on both occasions I've been to the cafe is what lead me to write this review.

I understand that training new staff may be difficult and people may make mistakes and it may be annoying. However, I hope you understand that reprimanding your staff at the front of the cafe makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere and can be avoided. Not to mention, this can't be a good way to retain employees. Your staff will grow and learn if they are allowed to, but if they feel unsafe to make small errors, then how can you expect to keep them for very long ?

Let me be clear that I'm advocating for your staff - because both times I've had no issues with your staff, the service, or the drink. It has been perfect. The only not perfect thing is walking in and immediately recognizing that you are creating an atmosphere that is not welcoming and I don't need to hear.

Today, you were not helping the one staff member that was working, just standing off to the side watching her every move and immediately jumping in if she did something in a way that you didn't like. If you need to educate your staff please don't do it in the middle of their shift in the front of the cafe.

If you're going to suggest how they operate please let them complete the drink orders beforehand, and tell them in a way that will allow them to take your advice and follow through on it because they want to do better, and not because they don't want to set you off.

And if they leave because you're creating a hostile environment, then you will continue to have newbies whom need to grow and learn without being reprimanded for every little thing they may do that might not be the way you want them to do it.

I hope this leads to a different way that you talk to and work with your staff.

I hope that the next time I come back I can refer to this cafe as a nice cafe to catch up with some friends and enjoy a coffee and pastry, and not the one with an owner that reprimands her staff when they're in the middle of shift and in front...

For those in downtown Toronto, near King Street, Rogers, CNTower, and others, Daily is a great cafe option for a snack, afternoon coffee, or a chat with friends.

The space is very cozy, with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere.

The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating, and purchasing and serving items requires descending a small staircase (unfortunately, the cafe is not accessible; assistance is required for guests with disabilities—they also do not have a Braille menu).

The shop has a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, as well as many food options. With our current summer season, a recommendation is the strawberry matcha, which is simply wonderful, and the peach cake, which is sensational.

The prices are fair, and the location is close to bus stops and a few kilometers from the subway station.

It's...

Update: your hours are Wrong!!! I walked all the way over here because it says you open 6:30 AM Saturday but your sign at the door says 8:30 AM. Might want to fix this !!! Down to 3 stars.

Delicious coffee and also croissant - fresh and oversized, perfect. We love the Americano and the extra care that goes into customizing your drink just the way you like it. Very cozy place. Small and may not be too comfortable for working/hanging out for a long time but it’s perfect for meeting up or getting coffee to go. Delicious Americano.

OK I have to add that today, someone else made my Americano and it was bitter-ish. I couldn’t drink it. Hmmm. Maybe different beans. I wanted to experience a 100% repeatable great Americano experience but sadly I can’t say that about Daily Dose...

Daily Dose in Toronto is a charming café that offers a delightful blend of healthy options and comfort food. One standout item on their menu is the black bean empanadas, which are a must-try. These empanadas are perfectly crisp on the outside, giving way to a flavorful filling of seasoned black beans that are both hearty and satisfying. The spices are well-balanced, and the accompanying dipping sauce adds a nice kick. The café itself has a welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of natural light and a cozy vibe. The staff is friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant dining experience. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a relaxed meal, Daily Dose delivers with a menu that caters to various tastes, and the black bean empanadas are a standout highlight that should not be missed.
