Read moreWe have been going here for soooo many years with our dog - he’s a 35 lb Goldendoodle. We always take him to the patio and today the hostess stopped us and refused to let us in. She said “Your dog is too big”. We told her that we have been coming here for years with the same dog. And she just dismissed us saying “Ya I know but today I can’t allow because your dog is too big for our patio!” There were a few tables available and there was even a corner one against the wall available. That corner table was even given to us in previous occasions even on weekends. It’s hump day ffs. Not sure what changed - is it their pet policy or she just wasn’t in the mood.
Edit:
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your quick response!
I just wanted to clarify something here - we didn’t write this review because your restaurant refused to accommodate our dog. Honestly, we have brought him in on busier weekends. We have had our dog for 7 years now and we are aware that this could be an outcome for us when we are with him. I want you to understand that as pet parents, we are conscious of the risks and responsibilities of getting our dog to a public spot - be it a restaurant patio or just a park. And we wouldn’t bring him with us if we were not confident of his behavior or ours. We are also aware that ultimately the decision is at the discretion of the establishment. What we had a problem with was the way THAT decision was delivered to us. A simple “I am sorry we are really busy tonight and have decided not to accommodate dogs in the patio” or “I am sorry we have changed our pet policy and we no longer accommodate pets in our patio when we are busy”. We did not appreciate the tone and body language of your hostess. It was rude and she did not even have the courtesy to make eye contact when she was talking to us. And frankly, we just saw her smile and respond politely to the couples before us. I don’t think this can be fixed by me emailing you prior to our arrival. I hope I made myself clear...
Read moreThe Town Crier: My wife discovered a Gem in Toronto's Culinary Scene Last week, I had the pleasure of dining at The Town Crier, a hidden gem nestled within Toronto's vibrant culinary landscape. While the exact address may escape me, the restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance quickly transports diners away from the city's hustle and bustle. Our culinary journey began with a delightful Wiener Schnitzel, a dish that was executed to perfection. The tender, crispy exterior gave way to succulent, juicy meat, a testament to the chef's skill. The attentive and friendly service further enhanced our dining experience. Beyond the delectable cuisine, The Town Crier offers a welcoming atmosphere that caters to all. The restaurant's commitment to accessibility is evident, with accommodations for guests with disabilities. The kid-friendly menu and patient staff make it an ideal choice for families. A particular highlight of our visit was the opportunity to meet Kevin, the restaurant's manager. His exceptional management skills and genuine hospitality left a lasting impression. It's clear that The Town Crier is fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented individual at the helm. As we concluded our meal, I couldn't help but reflect on a timeless adage in the hospitality industry: "Give them the pickle." This simple philosophy, often overlooked, can elevate a dining experience from ordinary to extraordinary. By offering extra touches, such as additional sauce or a complimentary treat, The Town Crier creates lasting memories for its patrons. While this review may have been longer than usual, I believe it's important to acknowledge the exceptional qualities of this remarkable restaurant. The Town Crier is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination where culinary excellence and heartfelt...
