TL;DR Great desserts - very disappointing service / high tea experience. This review is mainly for the poor Mother's Day high tea experience.

Delysées is one of my favourite bakeries in Toronto - I think their desserts are delicious and very aesthetically pleasing. So when I heard that they were doing high tea for Mother's Day, I booked right away and was so excited! Sad to say, it was VERY underwhelming and super overpriced. I booked for 3 people: myself, my mom, and my husband, and the price came out to just over $100 per person because they also charged a 20% gratuity...

The portion sizes were very small, even for high tea, especially considering how expensive it was. Compared to tables of two, our table of three received only marginally more food, a couple more mini pastries, which failed to justify paying $100 more.

In addition to the food quantity, the quality of the food was mediocre at best. The pastries lacked in taste one would expect from a luxury dessert place like Delysées, leaving us feeling that we could have gotten something similar at any regular cafe/bakery for a fraction of the cost.

Service was another sore point. Despite being seated promptly, we were neglected when it came to basic amenities such as water, having to ask our server 45 minutes into the high tea for water for the table. In addition, they also gave us butter that was STILL frozen, which they failed to realize so we had to ask them to switch it.

In the latter half of high tea, every time the servers and the founder (I believe?) asked us how everything was, we replied with "it's okay..." to which they cut us off with cursory, generic acknowledgments, brushing us off, rather than any follow-up or meaningful attempts to understand the potential issues.

While my appreciation for Delysées' desserts is still there, their service and quality were VERY lacking given their claims of being a luxury dessert place and how much they were charging. Would never do or recommend high tea here again if they chose to...

If you’re someone who loves desserts or simply has a sweet tooth, this place is a must-visit. It’s a haven filled with a wide variety of sweet treats, beautifully presented and crafted with attention to detail. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with an inviting display of whole cakes to your left, showcasing their artistry and tempting you to take something home. These cakes are available for takeout, which you can easily order at the counter.

For those planning to dine in, the setup is very relaxed. There’s no need to wait to be seated—just find a spot, and a server will promptly come over to assist you and provide menus. It’s a smooth and comfortable experience that lets you settle in and enjoy the ambiance at your own pace.

We were curious about their High Tea service, but we were informed that it needs to be pre-ordered. So, if you’re thinking of trying that, make sure to plan ahead and place your order in advance. It’s something we’d definitely want to come back for next time.

As for the desserts we tried, they were absolutely delicious. Each item we sampled had its own charm and flavor profile, and it was clear that a lot of care goes into their preparation. From presentation to taste, everything was spot-on. This is definitely the kind of place I’d love to come back to whenever I’m in the mood to indulge or simply hang out with friends over coffee and sweets.

The ambiance also adds to the charm. There’s a touch of elegance throughout, with gold accents that elevate the space and give it a refined yet cozy feel. Even their to-go coffee containers have a touch of gold, which adds to the overall thoughtful branding and aesthetic.

All in all, this place offers a wonderful dessert experience—perfect for casual visits, special treat days, or catch-ups over coffee and cake. I’m already looking forward to...

I frequently come to this location whether it’s to sit down or to go. Usually it is pleasant overall, cakes are always stocked with a nice selection, usually always able to sit down without making a reservation first, and for the most part staff are courteous. Unfortunately the last few times I’ve been to this location it has been mediocre at best in terms of staff… the other night I came and ordered to dine in. I was immediately notified they stop serving in an hour (fine, I can understand letting us know). Unfortunately, there was 0 attention to my table or the others around us, we all had to seek out the waitress to take our orders and once again she let us know about when they will stop taking orders. She proceeded to bring out a coffee that was spilt all over the serving plate and gave no napkins (and told us again about the time they will be done taking orders). There was a lady screaming in the back and freaking out that another table was seated… literally screaming in the back to the point every table went quiet.. I wanted a bottle of water but was uncomfortable to ask for something else… plus it was a mission to find someone to help. Whenever I did see the employee behind the counter she was on her cell phone while interacting with customers trying to order (not just unsanitary but rude). I ended up just going to the front to pay. The other couples there felt rushed as well… I don’t know if this is a common theme now? When I go in the early afternoon I don’t experience these things, so maybe it’s just the night staff? Not sure…just odd. Great cakes though (the vegan blueberry chocolate cake...

Came here with a friend back in August during summerlicious. We planned on ordering the summerlicious menu but we didn't love all the options offered and when you priced out the dishes individually, it came to the same amount so it wasn't even a deal 🙄 we ended up ordering a la carte: Crispy Pork Belly 💕 Beef Carpaccio 👌 Octopus Duck Confit (I was confused by this because the name was confit but it came out as a duck breast and was actually very hard and cooked well done- we were getting tired cutting it with the knife) Mushroom Ravioli 👌 Hands down the best Crispy Pork Belly I've had in a long time!! The carpaccio and ravioli were good too, but would probably never order duck here again. It was so tough that the server saw us struggling to cut it so she offered us a complimentary shot and we could not finish the dish at all. The bar menu didn't have many cocktail options but they were willing to try to make any creations you prefer. The server was very nice and chatty which was nice as the restaurant is very small, it could only seat about 30 people or so based on the table settings that night.
