Unfortunately this place deserves a 0 star.
Got food poisoning from the “organic salmon” from this place today. Half of the served salmon was still raw. I thought that was their standard way of finishing the salmon, I guess I was wrong.
The linguine came out to be salty as hell. We were starving upon arrival and couldn’t even finish half of it.
Finished our dinner and got home at around 8:30, and I’ve stayed on the toilet with absurd stomaches since then. I didn’t eat anything else all day so it has to be the salmon.
The tall hostess who greeted us and brought us to the table was also extremely rude. We were just a party of 2, arriving at 5:55 for our 6:15 reservation, she told us to come back in 20minutes as there are no tables available on the patio until 6:15 sharp. Are you serious? there were visibly 20+ empty tables idling on the patio at the time. We didn’t feel like losing our cool and decided to give her the benefit of doubt, so we just said no problem and came back at 6:15 sharp. She then literally just said “this way”, turned around and started walking, expected us to just follow her? Then she casually pointed us to the table without saying a word. Wow, No smile, no “enjoy the meal”, no eye contact whatsoever.
Later on, we saw the same hostess greeting an elderly couple who clearly struggled to walk at a normal pace due to their age. The hostess walked at lightning speed guiding them to their table, while the couple seemed extremely frustrated and had a hard time keeping up with her pace. She didn’t seem to care at all and just continued walking her way, until they were completely lost behind and looked extremely confused and frustrated. She did not look back once to check their distance with her.
For a restaurant at this price point, you would expect at least a mediocre service and acceptable food quality. However, It’s clearly not the case.
One silver lining throughout the entire experience was the waiter in the white shirt. He was the only attentive person who actually cared about our dining experience out of the 10+ workers we’ve seen out on the patio. No...
Read moreAs a customer of One for years now, we had the most disappointing experience today with the most rude, awful customer service and will never go back. We arrived on the patio with a reservation and with our small ESA dog and were sat at our table with no issues. Soon after, a manager came over to tell us our small dog had to be on the ground and not on our lap (where he was barely visible ) even though dogs are allowed on the patio. We told her he is an ESA dog with doctor documentation, and have brought him there before several times, but regardless, have never heard of that rule anywhere in the city or Ontario. She told us they have received lots of 'fines" and it's not allowed. We proceeded to tell her he dines INDOORS at restaurants all the time and why would he have to be on the ground outside instead of on our lap, she went on to insist in a very rude manner that its.a provincial rule which is an outright lie. We told her it is because he is used to being on our lap everywhere, he would likely try to get up on our lap throughout our time there, or otherwise it wouldn't be an issue. It was her condescending tone and manner which was beyond rude, especially for an establishment of this calibre, that we frequent often. We also told her it was our anniversary, and we always spend our anniversary there, and she cut me off and proceeded to rant that it's a rule and spoke down to me. She left the table, we put our dog on the ground to see if it would work, and then a server came over with the exact same attitude basically barking at us for a drink order. My husband and I could not believe how we were treated, especially at a fine dining establishment such as this. After both staff members belittling us, I decided I was not going to stay there. My husband owns a company in the city and often takes his staff out to dine, and both he and I will never ever step foot here again. What a shame. To top it off, it ruined our day, which was a special occasion. We did end up going elsewhere in Yorkville to eat, but the staff at ONE definitely ruined a...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Toronto's upscale Yorkville neighborhood, One Restaurant at Hazelton Hotel is a culinary gem that captivates the senses from the moment you step inside. My recent dining experience at this exquisite establishment was nothing short of exceptional.
The culinary delights at One Restaurant are nothing short of extraordinary. The menu is a testament to the chef's dedication to sourcing high-quality, seasonal ingredients. The variety of dishes cater to a range of palates, and there's a strong emphasis on creative and contemporary interpretations of classic dishes.
We started with Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Steak Tartare, Oysters and Focaccia. For the appetizers, the Foie Gras was our favourite, a rich and flavourful appetizer that sets the tone for the main course, followed by the Steak Tartare that is served with quail egg on top of crostini.
The linguine with colossal shrimp was served with white wine butter sauce which is phenomenal. The 40 oz Tomahawk has gotta be the highlight of our dining experience, perfectly cooked! My favourite dish out of everything is actually their truffle frites! Fresh parmigiano reggiano and truffle aioli elevates this fries to the next level.
The wine list is extensive, featuring an impressive selection of local and international wines that complement the menu beautifully. We started off with white wine and got the rose for the second bottle.
Each dish served at One Restaurant is a work of art. The presentation is exquisite, showcasing a fusion of colors, textures, and garnishes that elevate the dining experience. The attention to detail in every aspect of the meal, from the plating to the arrangement of ingredients, is truly impressive.
It offers a complete dining experience that marries an elegant atmosphere, exceptional service, and a menu that tantalizes the taste buds. Whether you're looking for an intimate evening with a loved one, celebrating a special occasion, or simply savoring world-class cuisine, One Restaurant is an...
