We recently hosted our wedding reception at STK in Yorkville, and I truly don’t even know where to begin because the entire experience was nothing short of perfect. From the very first planning stages to the very last moment of the night, everything went absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t be more grateful to the incredible team that made it all possible.
First, let’s talk about the food—because WOW. Every single guest (we had 40) we spoke to raved about it, and we kept hearing the same thing over and over: “This was the best meal I’ve had in years.” The flavors, the quality, the presentation—everything was outstanding. Guests who took food home were messaging us the next day saying how it was still just as delicious reheated, and easily a 10/10. STK truly outdid themselves.
Now for the people who made this day come to life:
Enrique (General Manager) – Thank you for walking us through the space ahead of time and helping us picture exactly what our setup would look like. Your professionalism and guidance gave us so much confidence.
Cameron (Event Planner) – I think I probably sent you 300 emails with about a million and one questions, and you handled every single one with patience, kindness, and expertise. You made everything seamless, and you truly made this day happen.
Stephanie – I don’t even know what your official title is at STK, but you were an absolute angel that night. Once Cameron’s part was done, you stepped in and supported me in ways I didn’t even know I’d need. You kept checking in on me, gave me little tips and reassurances, and were just a calming, positive presence. You even gave me a heads up before the surprise dessert presentation with sparklers so we could make sure the photographer captured it. That moment is now one of my favorite memories. Honestly, you deserve a higher role because you were phenomenal. Everyone loved you, and I cannot thank you enough for being there with me throughout the night.
The menu they created for us was beautiful—it even had our names on it, which made it feel extra special. We did a combination of family-style and plated service, which I 100% recommend. It allowed everyone to try a bit of everything while still keeping things elegant and organized. For drinks, we opted for a tab per table instead of an open bar, and that ended up being a fantastic decision because not everyone drank, and it gave each table more control.
Now, to be completely honest, the only part that could have been a bit better was the desserts. The tuxedo cake was absolutely phenomenal, but the rest of the desserts didn’t quite live up to the same standard. That said, they were gorgeous to look at, and the sparklers and presentation added such a special, celebratory touch.
Another thing that caused us a little bit of stress was the contract clause about exceeding the 3-hour time limit, which stated there would be a $100 per person, per hour fee. Since the meals started coming out a little later than expected, we were panicking that we’d go over the cut-off time. Our dinner service didn’t really get rolling until about 9:00/9:30, and with our end time being 10:00, we were nervous. Once again, this is where Stephanie came through for us—she spoke with the GM on our behalf, came back with reassurance, and lifted that massive weight off our shoulders. Knowing we weren’t going to be penalized let us finally relax and enjoy the night.
At the end of the day, none of these little hiccups took away from how incredible the overall experience was. The staff, the food, the atmosphere—everything came together beautifully, and we had the wedding reception of our dreams.
To anyone reading this: whether you’re planning a wedding, a big celebration, or even just looking for a phenomenal dinner spot, I 100% recommend STK Yorkville. I personally will be coming back here for dinner and, without hesitation, if I have any future events, I will be hosting them at STK.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you to everyone at STK Yorkville for giving us the most...
Read moreSTK Toronto is situated in the heart of Toronto’s prestigious Yorkville neighbourhood. It smoothly fuses the contemporary restaurant and trendy lounge concept serving steak, seafood, and cocktails while offering a mesmerizing, fine dining experience.
As you enter, you are greeted by live DJ music in a lavish backdrop. The ambiance is alluring by the coupling of industrial style with exposed brick painted white and the elegance of marble accents. Sitting at any table, you have a marvelous view of the restaurant’s decor. This is the place to see and be seen so it’s advisable to adhere to their strictly enforced, upscale casual dress code. I would also recommend booking a reservation. For those who do not book a table, there is a stylish, futuristic lounge to have a drink while you wait. I enjoyed the STK Mule from their signature collection made with Cîroc vodka, lime, and ginger beer. I was not disappointed.
The menu offers a wide variety of flavoursome appetizers and market salads. I had the caesar salad and crispy shrimp accompanied by chili remoulade, while my friends tried the double smoked applewood bacon, tuna tartare served with hass avocado, a soy honey emulsion and taro chips. All were impeccable. The main course consisted of an 8 ounce, 30 day dry aged strip steak served with smooth mashed potatoes, black trumpet mushrooms, pearl onion agrodolce and a red wine jus which delighted all of us. We also ordered the mac & cheese both with and without lobster. It is made with 6 different cheeses each adding their own unique flavour profile and the lobster not only makes an appearance on top of the dish but is also incorporated throughout the pasta. One of my friends described it as “pasta, butter and cheese having sex and making a baby.” Delicious doesn’t even begin to describe it. This all was followed by a delectable, tear-inducing burnt orange cheesecake. Have you ever had cheesecake so good that it made you cry? The rest of my party enjoyed the spiced creme caramel served with chantilly cream and crumbled honey comb, as well as the chocolate brownie accompanied with dolce de leche ice cream, dehydrated raspberries in a maple bourbon sauce. We also ordered a feature item on the menu called “The Cloud” — cotton candy drizzled with Grand Marnier liqueur then torched to reveal strawberries and sponge cake nested in the middle. The torched cotton candy added a scrumptious, crunchy texture to the dish. I highly recommend this dessert based off not only its taste but presentation as well. We also sampled another one of the best desserts on the menu, compliments of the chef. Undeniably a staff favourite, the sticky toffee pudding is perfectly mated with caramel honeycomb, Madagascar vanilla quenelle and maldon salted caramel sauce. It is a heavenly union of sweet, salty and crunchy which quickly made it the table’s favourite dessert too.
All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of homemade food. You could literally tell the food was made with love, care, and unicorn tears. Executive chef, Tommy McHugh took great care in selecting premium, quality ingredients to ensure STK Toronto had THE best Winterlicious menu for 2019. Our dinner was highlighted by a visit from him to our table where we were more than happy to give him the admiration, praise and recognition he rightfully deserves. Our server Sarah was attentive, efficient, friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. The service provided far exceeded our already high expectations. All menu items at regular price could be considered pricy but as the idiom goes, “You get what you pay for.” In my opinion, everything we tasted and experienced was well worth it.
I am truly grateful for such an amazing fine dining experience. If I could rate this restaurant more than 5 stars, I definitely would. Despite the initial challenges of securing our reservation, I had a praiseworthy dinner with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason, I highly recommend going to STK Toronto for...
Read moreWhere to even begin… overpriced menu, staple brunch items butchered, obnoxiously loud atmosphere, inattentive service, unreasonably long wait for our meal, dirty glasses, and unsanitary washrooms.
Given there were only two other tables when we arrived, my husband and I thought it would be a quick in-and-out brunch experience for mum and dad while our little one took a nap in her stroller.
First impression, we were sat at a table with dirty glasses and in an area where we could barely hear one another due to the odd clubbing music overhead. Perhaps some people enjoy this kind of atmosphere, personally we thought it was a bit much for brunch.
The server took quite some time to make his way to our table to even offer water, disappeared, and when he finally popped up again we had to wave him down to order. We then waited over half an hour for two simple dishes to show up (during which time we finished our waters and the server was nowhere to be seen for a refill). We received a burger that was mediocre at best, looked and tasted like something off a fast food menu. The eggs benny, a classic, was evidently overcooked with a hard yolk and chewy layer of meat. The server again was nowhere in sight so I watched my husband scarf down his meal while I nibbled on my side salad, holding my daughter who had woken during the long wait. Sorry there are no photos - we didn’t even think about pulling our phones out, just wanted to get the heck out of there.
When we finally got the servers attention we were told he could ask the kitchen to redo, and when I indicated concern about how long the wait would be I was told “it will be quick”… but it was not. We waited again for at least another 15-20 minutes before a new plate to showed up, and this time one of my yolks had somehow rolled off onto the side of the plate. Not a big deal, it’s edible, but seriously is it too much to ask for a $40+ eggs benny to be cooked and served to a basic standard when we are only one of three tables?
Every time we needed assistance, we had to crank our necks to look for our server, and it got to the point where I had to physically walk up to him to ask for our bill. We always give a tip even if the experience does not warrant one, but this disaster that costed us close to $100 has got to be the most noteworthy.
Lastly, the washrooms, where I had to walk in and out of numerous stalls before finding one that was usable. There were no toilet paper rolls, wet floors, and generally yucky toilet conditions. And to those with accessibility needs (and parents with strollers), beware that there were various entrances without working handicap door openers.
What we thought would be a breezy and enjoyable outting ended up being a terrible start to our weekend. We will certainly not be returning nor...
