Don't let my rating tell you how great this place is... the line up out the door would be your clearest sign. We arrived on a Saturday early evening and already you can see the line up at the door. We weren't sure if we could fit but we managed. It is a tiny little store but behind the counter there is an army of staff just helping everyone.

Please dont let the line up stop you... it is worth it and the line moves kinda fast. It maybe took us a little under 15 minutes from the door to walking out with our scoops. They have a lot of flavours and it always rotating. I did snap a pic as there's no menu on their website. They something for everyone... ice cream, gelato, sorbet, and frozen yogurt Plus they do give everyone one free topping of a candy. Every little kid was walking out with either sprinkles or gummy bears on their cones. They also offered several types of cones! The traditional one but a lot of people were walking out with the great looking waffle ones. I was tempted but I got a simple cup cause I was still full from dinner!

I was sooo tempted by the ice cream especially the Mercury Espresso but I'm a gelato girl at heart and I was sooo happy to see their gelato not a crazy neon colour (that indicates fake colouring added). So I tried the Amarena Cherry, Tiramisu, and Pistachio.

Amerena Cherry - To me, when cherry is good.. its very very good. it needs a balance of sweet and tart to keep it out of the cough syrup territory. Ed's rendition is quite good... it is a touch more sweet than I'd like but still a great option. 3.5/5

Tiramisu - Ok, this was very good ... creamy with very good moments of espresso flavours and I liked the bit of lady fingers buried in the gelato. Nice one to have 4/5

Pistachio - This is the one that made me try their gelato over their ice cream. It's a muted green that speaks to using real nuts instead of fake neon green powder or dye. This was just great. A true lover of nuts would get this over and over. Strong nutty flavour hits your tongue and stays there after the sweetness subsides. 4.5/5

I haven't tried all the ice cream and gelato in Toronto but Ed's is definitely the real deal...

Ed's Real Scoop is a popular ice cream shop located in Leslieville, Toronto, ON, Canada. The shop is located in a small and cozy space that gives off a friendly and warm atmosphere. The shop has a very nice decor, with vintage posters and pictures of ice cream in the past. The lighting is perfect, not too bright, nor too dark. The place has a nice seating area, with a few chairs and tables where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream.

The ice cream at Ed's Real Scoop is simply amazing! They have a great variety of flavors, including some unusual ones like Roasted Marshmallow, London Fog, and even Whiskey Cream. Each scoop is packed with flavor and is smooth and creamy. You can also get cones or waffles to go with your ice cream.

One of my favorite things about this place is the friendly and helpful staff. They are always willing to help you decide which flavor to choose and are happy to let you sample different flavors before making your decision. They are also very efficient and quick, even during busy times.

Another great thing about Ed's Real Scoop is that they use all-natural ingredients, which means that you are getting high-quality ice cream that is free from artificial flavors and preservatives. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. You can also buy pints of ice cream to take home.

Overall, I highly recommend Ed's Real Scoop to anyone looking for delicious and high-quality ice cream in the Leslieville area. The great atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing flavors make this shop a must-visit for ice...

Ed’s Real Scoop in Leslieville is a must-stop if you love quality ice cream. The moment you step inside, you’re hit with the aroma of fresh waffle cones and the sight of colorful tubs of gelato, sorbet, and ice cream calling your name.

Lisa deserves a special shout-out — she was warm, welcoming, and genuinely took the time to explain the differences between their ice cream, sorbet, and gelato. Her knowledge and enthusiasm added to the experience, and she made it easy to pick the perfect scoop.

The flavors here are incredible. Classics like creamy vanilla bean and rich chocolate are done to perfection, but it’s the adventurous options — like burnt marshmallow, pistachio, mango sorbet, and salted caramel — that make Ed’s really shine. Each scoop is packed with flavor and has that fresh, homemade quality you just can’t get from a grocery store pint.

One tip for first-timers: at the entrance there’s a sign kindly asking that if you’re with a group, only a couple of people head in to place the order. It makes sense, because the shop fills up quickly — but the line moves fast, and trust me, it’s worth the wait.

Between the stellar flavors, the friendly service, and Lisa’s welcoming energy, Ed’s Real Scoop is the kind of neighborhood spot you’ll want to keep coming back to...

Excellent, really attentive service. The scooper behind the counter let us know of the flavours that possibly had marshmallows (gelatin) in them without us even asking. She also called the ice cream maker from the back to double check the ingredients. We were very taken aback and touched by this extra bit of care and her being well informed to recognize customers' dietary restrictions. Thanks so much! Also the ice cream itself was amazing and really flavourful, you could taste the fresh ingredients in each scoop. The key lime and mango were my favourites! Would totally recommend and visit again.

Currently working on a project nearby, and the ice cream from ED’s really heals my exhausted body after work! Passion fruit yogurt is my favourite. And very close to the beach, highly recommended

A local legend; a neighbourhood gem. The staff are always friendly, the flavours are always top-notch. Two flavours in every cup (for those like me who can’t decide on just one). The marshmallow flavour is very sweet but Ed’s makes a good one. The mercury espresso flavour uses beans from next door (talk about supporting local!) but the coffee crunch flavour is slightly stronger in coffee taste. The hogtown fog is great for those who like earl grey tea. The sweet cream and vanilla bean can never disappoint. There is also a selection of gelato if you’re interested.
