I, a local business owner walks into Egg Smart and informs the staff that there are a couple small but slippery patches of black ice just out front of their establishment. The cook seems to care. The shorter black haired lady working there doesn’t show me much concern or appreciation at all.
I tell her, “I believe legally it’s EggSmart’s responsibility so you should probably take care of that.” I exit the establishment. I hear her call out to me on the street “What ice are you talking about?” She’s standing at the door looking down at the very patches that exist. I point it out. She flips her palm up “Well we do have salt down so there’s nothing much we can do about it.” I say “Don’t you care if some old lady comes by and slips and falls?” “She says. I’m just inquiring. No need to be rude.” I turn to leave as she continues “You come in and start complaining at me…” I can’t hear the rest because I’m crossing the street.
If I were the owner I’d be ashamed and appalled and would fire this person for displaying such apathy and disrespect to someone who took the time to come in to offer help. I have nothing to gain from “complaining” and the fact that she views this as a complaint says a lot. I actually cared that someone may slip and fall and hurt themselves, so I decided to do something about it. This server felt differently I suppose. I don’t care to be served by people who genuinely show no care of concern for their fellow citizens...
Read moreI wanted to try this place mostly to see whether the one-star or the five-star reviews were correct. it turns out that the one-stars have it.
it's never good when you go into a place that's only a quarter full and the staff are already arguing amongst themselves and apologizing to another table for messing up their orders.
I ordered a western omelette and my husband ordered a waffle with a side of sausages. I saw a plate sitting in the pass for at least ten minutes and neither of the waitresses seemed to care. I had a bad feeling it was my plate and, of course, it was. By the time they brought it over, it was cold. on top of which, the cheese in the omelette just formed one solid gloop—very unappetizing—and the toast was covered in smears of unmelted margarine. yuck.
I guess they delayed bringing my meal because of problems with their waffle maker. when they eventually brought my husband's meal, they left off his sausages. still tried to charge us for them, though!
we let them know my food was cold but I didn't have time to wait for a redo and that they had forgotten the sausages. they took my husband's meal (the cheaper meal) off the bill. we won't...
Read moreAfter a terrible takeout experience last year, boyfriend and I decided to give it another try this morning because it’s SO close by. We both got the hash and it was actually pretty good and service was lovely. Huge menu. But both our stomachs starting feeling bad while eating, sort of bloated and my bf actually said he felt sharp pains. We thought maybe it was us, or our food from the night before not sitting well… so we let it go. I took both our leftovers home. Took a chance by eating them for dinner… and my stomach immediately had crazy sharp pains! I assume from eating the portion of the leftovers that was from my bf’s plate. Not sure what could cause that… but it was obviously something in the Eggsmart food. So… that will likely be the last time I give this place a try :/
Update: have given this place another try and only had good experiences since. Vast menu, good portions, no more food issues. It’s heavy, indulgent breakfast food, but a satisfying diner-type experience but much more elaborate. It’s only a couple blocks away so guess I was determined not to...
