Let me share my DISCRIMINATING experience at FIGS.
I like to try different breakfast places and I wanted to go to FIGS since long time. Today I got the opportunity. It is Thursday morning. Entire place is empty except only one customer (white) sitting on four seat table next to the window. As soon as I walked in, a lady (white; not sure if she is one of the owners?) came to sit me down and offered me a two chair table right at the wall opposite entrance door. I politely asked if I can get any window side table like the other gentleman, pointing at tables next to his. She was very hesitant and sat me down at another two chair table at another small corner of the restaurant next to the other door (which is closed). It was next to window but of no use as my back was facing the window.
I ordered my breakfast and asked her for peanut butter. Her reply was ‘we don’t have peanut butter’. For god sake, you are a breakfast place😀.
While having my breakfast, I saw another gentleman (white) walked in, and she offered him 6 chair table in the aisle next to the window.
She never came back to my table asking if I need anything. I had to help myself with the condiments I needed.
After I was done with my breakfast, I walked to the cashier to pay the bill as she was no where to be seen. When she came to the payment counter, I asked her out of curiousity why I was not given the window side table even after requesting, especially when the entire place was empty except one customer, and he was given exactly same kind of window side table I had requested. She said she didn’t notice when he walked in. Hard to believe that. They have clear sign at the entrance ‘Please wait to be seated’😀 Also, if that is the case, she could have told him that we do not offer 4 chair tables for single customers before taking the order.
When asked about the other single customer who came after me and got 6 chair table, her reply was that he is our regular customer. And then to cover up, she said he is expecting other large group to join him😀
When I asked her if new customers get different treatment than regular customers at FIGS, she didn’t have anything to say but just an uncomfortable smile!
The breakfast was not bad but the service was definitely worst. I’m surely not going to such DISCRIMINATORY place again, and will not be recommending to any...
Read moreWe were genuinely excited to try Figs after hearing good things, but unfortunately, our experience left a lot to be desired — largely due to the attitude and behavior of someone we later learned was Leo, a part-owner of the restaurant.
When we arrived, we were seated in a cramped area that felt more like a thoroughfare than a dining spot. There was constant foot traffic from both staff and patrons, and it felt overwhelmingly claustrophobic. Hoping to enjoy the meal more comfortably, I politely asked Leo if there was any possibility to switch tables, having noticed several parties clearly finishing up. His response was unnecessarily rude and condescending. Rather than a simple explanation or a willingness to accommodate, he sharply told me, “No, I’m not going to have you sit down and hold a table,” and insisted that the only option was to be placed on a waitlist — despite the fact that multiple tables were clearly about to turn over.
Fine. I stepped outside briefly to find my boyfriend, and when we returned together just a few seconds later, Leo had already given our table away — with zero communication. When I asked about it, he brushed it off and said, “I thought you left, but I can put you down on the waitlist again.” Seriously? The audacity of that moment was honestly laughable. To top it off, he suddenly “found” a table not even 10 seconds later — clearly trying to save face after realizing how unreasonable he was being.
Throughout the meal, Leo continued hovering around the dining area, even pressuring a table near us to hurry up and order. The whole atmosphere felt more like a rushed transaction than a pleasant dinner.
The food? It was just okay — certainly not good enough to make up for the unwelcoming experience. The only bright spot was our server, an older blonde woman who was kind, attentive, and genuinely the only reason we didn’t walk out. She deserves either a significant raise or a job somewhere her talents are appreciated.
Overall, the management’s attitude and chaotic energy made what should have been a great breakfast feel stressful and unpleasant. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend Figs unless they seriously rethink their approach to...
Read moreWe came to Figs excited to try it out, but the visit went downhill fast. From the moment we walked in, the attitude was off — especially from the man at the door, who we later found out is named Leo and is actually a part-owner. He was rude, condescending, and completely dismissive.
We were seated in a very cramped area with constant foot traffic — not ideal, but we figured we’d make the most of it. I politely asked Leo if there was any chance we could switch tables, as I noticed several parties were clearly finishing up. Rather than even considering the request, he snapped back that we couldn’t do that, saying, “I’m not going to have you sit down and hold a table.” He said we could go on the waitlist again — even though there was literally one person waiting.
I stepped outside briefly to find my girlfriend, and when we came back in together a few seconds after, Leo had already given our table away. No communication, no checking in with us. He had the audacity to say, “I thought you left, but I can put you on the waitlist.” As if that wasn’t bad enough, he suddenly “found” a table for us 10 seconds later, clearly realizing how ridiculous the situation was.
Once seated, it still felt chaotic and uncomfortable. Leo hovered around, clearly rushing people and even pressuring another table near us to hurry up and order. Not the vibe we were hoping for.
My girlfriend ordered the Eggs Benedict and specifically asked for the eggs to be not runny and not hard hard — not liquid, not overcooked. First round came out extremely runny, so we sent it back. The second time, it came out way too hard. At that point, it just felt like no one was listening or paying attention to the details.
The food was average at best, and it definitely wasn’t enough to outweigh the rude service and uncomfortable environment. Between the poor hospitality and the overall vibe, we won’t be returning — and I wouldn’t recommend Figs to anyone expecting a relaxed, respectful...
