Found this nice place while walking around Toronto at night. The food at this place is phenomenal and prices are fair for what they are serving. To start of most dinner entrees come with a salad and miso soup as per the norm. Their salad has the traditional mayo sauce like other Japanese restaurant but they add a dash of sesame oil and it makes a big difference. They also offered a pickled eggplant as a side in the beginning to cleanse the palate and that tasted much better than I thought it would. I ordered an appetizer and dinner katsudon while me and my friend shared the sushi sampler. First off the appetizer I ordered was the kaarage, while it only came with five pieces they were of decent size, much bigger than most other places. The pieces were juicy and mostly meat rather than just tons of breading to make it look big. The lemon complemented the chicken as it should. The katsudon was a good portion and when they put the mirin sauce mix in they did not douse the whole dish in it like some other places do. The sauce was just covering the meat, egg and assorted veggies. They added mushrooms to the normal katsudon and that made such a big difference. The whole dish had a whole new taste and texture since the rice was still fresh and not soggy when served. The flavors was recognizable from each other and when put together, it was superb. Now on to the staple of Japanese food, sushi. When me and my friend finished with the regular meal we were so curious about the sushi since everything else was good. The sampler came with five pieces, Salmon, Tuna, White Fish, Mackarel, and Yellow Fish. I took the salmon as my first piece and when I put it in my mouth the freshness was evident as soon as I took my first bite. My second bite then mixed the rice with the salmon and the taste was exquisite. My third bite was the most surprising, the sushi seemed to just disintegrate into my mouth. Of all the sushi places I have tried (US and Canada), this place was the first to show that aspect to me of the sushi just melting into the mouth. It was so fresh that I could not believe it to be true. I was astounded and had to make sure that it was not just my mind playing a trick on me or just that one piece. I took the White Fish after and it was the same. My friend tried the Tune, which is usually chewy but that too also with three bites started to just melt into the mouth. Overall this place is a great find and if you want to introduce people to sushi, I would recommend this place since the sushi will go down...
Read moreThey are located on the lower floor of a building. We came here specially to experience the revolving sushi table. The design of it was pretty unique. It wasn't the typical conveyor belt type of sushi table. Instead they had wooden boats that floated around in circles.
Came here on a Monday, the place was not half full.
The design of the place was very simple. The typical Japanese type of feel to it. The waiters and chefs were Japanese and spoke Japanese. Communication with the waiters was okay, not too difficult. They were able to understand what we wanted properly.
First, the sushi and sashimi that ran along the revolving sushi table. The plates ranged from around $3-$8 I think. Each plate consisted of 2-4 pieces of sushi or sashimi depending on what you get. They have maki sushi, sashimi, niguri and some desserts.
The sushi was pretty fresh, again, they serve sushi mildly chilled-room temperature which I'm not used to. But it was still pretty good.
We also ordered sashimi from the menu since it provides a greater variety of fish. The sweet shrimp and scallops were really good !
Additionally we ordered beef skewers, each order came with two skewers. The first order of skewers we're really fresh and the meat was soft and flavourful. The second order was really hard and chewy. It tasted overcooked. As for the third order of beef skewer, it was soft again. It was a little disappointment.
As for dessert, we had mochi, dorayaki and a green tea tiramisu. The mochi was soft and chewy and was filled with red beans. The dorayaki was okay. The green tea tiramisu was not that good. It tastes a little stale. The texture of the cake was dry and not moist.
I would've given the restaurant a 5 star rating since everything was almost perfect except the fact that we're some food flies flying around the table and the quality of one of our orders wasn't that great.
However, overall it was a good experience....
Read moreWe finally got the chance to try this place as we were always intimidated because it might be a fancy restaurant. So after a long day in the park in our park clothes we decided to give it a try for our dinner. We were greeted right away, no issues with our attire as we were welcomed in. We were able to stash our kids scooters in their walk in closet. We chose to dine in their sushi bar where there were boats carrying sushi that revolves around it. It was our first time experiencing that so it was very interesting. Items were priced depending on the color of the plate so if you are budget conscious this could be dangerous. Most of the ones we picked were really good, tasty, and fresh. We are not good memorizing the color pricing codes so we took a picture of it because we had to wait a full circle of the boats to check the price everytime. We ordered chicken teriyaki from their menu and expected less but it was a lot and all four of us shared to finish it. So even with the steep price tag on it, it was justified. We ordered something on the side too and it was good as well. I just can't remember what. Staff were nice....
