Finally open again after years with Covid-19 pandemic restrictions on the 2020/21 seasons. Looking up the balconies and walls to the ceiling has a lot of exposed concrete. Would be good to get up there with scaffolding and plaster over and 'finish' the exposed stark concrete to remove the bunker feel. Or wood or mosaic the concrete with colour and richness. A few onyx light fixtures of transparent stone does not finish the 'sky' of the building or the balcony undersides. When you look up to absorb the music with your eyes open it is not a pretty sight. They are very drab and 'parking garage'. Nice try. The thing with this very young country and very young city, is that limestone and Portland cement run in droves. Many buildings built in this area and era, e.g. U of T library, Skydone and CN Tower etc. are reinforced concrete. It's swell for an underground parking garage for cars but not quite romantic for housing Canada's biggest city's symphony orchestra (TSO). Just my opinion. Too, you need to be a mountain-goat/squirrel to get to the washrooms. Parking on concert night is almost as expensive as tickets to Beethoven. How ridiculous validation parking isn't included in TSO tickets e.g. like Whole Foods grocery stores. Oxford Properties & TSO need to give us validation parking...

One of my favourite memories from late last year. My fiance planned us a wonderful night out with a delicious Thai food dinner at Pai, followed by tickets to the Final Fantasy Rebirth Orchestra World Tour performed by the seriously talented musicians in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Such beautiful music performed perfectly, I wanted to burst into tears multiple times. You know when songs wind up and are so powerful, and then at the end all the instruments quiet down followed by a single violin playing on its own to close out the song? Yeah that happened a few times, and it was so beautiful I wanted to actually cry. Every instrument had a purpose, and every sound was something of a dream, bringing each song to its fullest life. Also hearing One-Winged Angel live was absolutely insane. Thank you for the beautiful show. Such a great venue, such talented artists; we had such a wonderful unforgettable night.

I also wanted to mention that while setting up, and during intermission, a lot of the musicians looked so happy to be there. Their expression and love for playing music really showed and it made the experience even better knowing that they were so passionate about being there...

I just wanted to share a story about exemplary customer service. I purchased tickets way back in the fall for a December performance of Elf. About 4 days before the show, having hyped-up Daddy's surprise for my wife and girls, I went to retrieve my tickets - which didn't seem to exist. In fact, after an hour or so of scouring every email account, every ticketing app, the only record I had was my Visa charge - I definitely paid for them.

I emailed the TSO help desk - they responded very promptly just to say they were looking into it and they were very upset by the situation. They also called. Within a few hours I had new (better) tickets and everything was straightened out.

This is customer-centric service at it's best. They had genuine sympathy knowing the stress this kind of situation can cause.

The show itself was amazing, but that is expected. Kids loved it, wife loved it, and I was left with a very positive experience to share. Special shout-out to interim assistant Tess who was top-notch in her response to my...

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE - What a treat! It’s been a long time since I’ve been back to Roy Thompson Hall to listen to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Way too long. Wow, they’re better than they’ve ever been, and they’ve always been great. This week’s performance focused on the repertoire of John Williams, arguably the most notable and honoured film composer of all time. And wow, did the TSO ever do justice to his music. Every performance was outstanding, with special note to the wonderful solo performances. From the amazing clarinet, through to the piccolo, flutes, and terrific French horn section, they offered a true appreciation for how Williams worked his scores to show off the range of instruments in the orchestra. And the TSO was totally up for the task. What a treat and pleasure to listen to. They offered a whole new admiration for the greatness of Williams’s work. STANDING OVATION🌟
