This is a great place for high quality sushi. The price reflects the quality so be prepared to spend more than usual.
Had a really nice dinner here with my wife. This is a great place for a date night or when you want to spend a little extra on VERY good sushi.
The meal was excellent and I am so glad my wife found this place. We came because we could not find any other place with proper Gommae (spinach salad) anywhere in the city.
The qualify of the fish is top notch. It is reflected in the price, and absolutely worth paying for.
There was a good variety of appetizer share plates, dinner boxes, individual nigiri pieces and combinations. It is a smaller menu, but I think everyone will be able to find something they like.
They also do the Nigiri properly, with a little Wasabi. But they do it right, the proper amount of Wasabi so you get a little of the heat to support and enhance the fish.
We made a reservation and they sat us right in front of the sushi bar so I could watch the chef work. And it was masterful. It was also fun watching him get mad when he opened 3 Avcoados and was mad at the first two as I guess they were not to his liking.
The restaurant itself is inside a hotel so hidden but they validate parking which is good. And the washrooms are outside the restaurant itself, just down the hall in the ballroom.
Also the tables and chairs are a little haphazard and they had the takeout boxes all over the teppanyaki grill area. I'd love to try their Teppanyaki out but need to be contacted 48hours in...
Read moreCame here two days ago. Ordered a small sushi set, the fish was really delicious and fresh. The miso soup that came with it was also excellent. I also tried a seaweed salad, which was nice. For dessert the server recommended the taro ice cream, which was delicious in both taste and texture. The service was excellent and food came quickly. The atmosphere of this restaurant really seems beautiful with traditional Japanese elements like a koi pond at the entrance, screen doors as walls, traditional roof tiling over some chef stations. Unfortunately it was hard to appreciate the beauty of the restaurant in it’s entirety as the restaurant is sectioned off with traditional divider screens. I don’t know why this decision was made, perhaps for more privacy and a cozier experience, but it takes away the ability to view the detail that was put into the interior design. I know the restaurant used to be open concept in the past as there were no screens separating every few tables, I don’t understand why management made this decision and I hope they remove the screens in the future. Additionally, it’s also a shame the samurai armour display at the front entrance is covered by a poster. I’m sure they could’ve put the poster somewhere else. Overall the food and service is amazing and the atmosphere is very nice despite being blocked off by screens. I hope management will remove the screens in the future so that future diners can appreciate the beauty of the restaurant without feeling...
Read moreI called my order in and decided to drive to the hotel to pick it up, there is free parking onsite. The hotel was quiet as expected, but the restaurant was easy to find. It was nice to even visit for pick up, obviously it'd be more fun to eat at the restaurant but during the pandemic it made me feel good to see a functioning restaurant and take in a bit of the atmosphere. The waitress and a young man met me at the door and brought all my food over neatly packed up. We had a pleasant chat for a few minutes about the restaurant, chef, food and Japan. The food was really tasty, and beautifully presented. Ginko seems to focus on the little details, my bento box had many components all balanced well, and all were delicious. I'll be really looking forward to come back when in-restaurant-seated service is allowed. In the meantime if you like Japanese food, I'd recommend you give Ginko a try, it is a cool place, and they do the take out service well and with a smile. As I write this I realize how much I miss fine dining at restaurants this will be the first place I go once restaurants...
