There's a certain charm to Milestones on Dixon Road, Etobicoke. It's not just another pit stop on the culinary highway, but a destination in itself. A place where the weary traveler, fresh off a flight, can find solace in a comforting meal. A place where the local, weary from the day's grind, can find a moment of respite.
Milestones, as the name suggests, is a testament to the journey of food. It's a story that began in Vancouver in 1989, with a simple mission to celebrate life's milestones over great meals. Visiting the chain reminds this writer of the years spent in Vancouver and the countless Soup and Salad lunches that crossed his toothy threshold. Over the years, it has grown into a beloved Canadian chain, with each location offering a unique dining experience.
The menu at Milestones is a delightful mix of the familiar and the exotic. It's a culinary map that guides you through a world of flavors, from the hearty comfort of a classic burger to the exotic allure of Asian-inspired bowls. But it's not just about the food. It's about the experience. The ambiance, the service, the attention to detail - it all adds up to create a dining experience that's more than just a meal.
And then there are the salad bowls. These aren't your average salads. They're a symphony of fresh, locally sourced ingredients that provide a healthy alternative for those looking to indulge without the guilt. It's a refreshing change from the usual fare, a nod to the changing dietary preferences of today's discerning diners.
Milestones isn't just a restaurant. It's a culinary landmark, a place where food isn't just consumed, but celebrated. It's a place where the past and the present come together to create a dining experience that's truly unique.
In the grand scheme of things, Milestones is more than just a convenient stopover near the airport. It's a place that embodies the spirit of Canadian hospitality, a place that serves up a slice of history with every dish. It's a place that reminds us that food is more than just sustenance. It's a celebration of life's milestones.
And that, my friends, is the beauty of Milestones. It's not just a restaurant. It's a marker on life's journey. A journey that takes you through the milestones, one delicious dish at a time. So, the next time you're in Etobicoke, relive our west coast experience, try something with a pacific flair or mark the moment with whatever milestone makes...
Read moreThe worst experience ever. I work at a different milestones location and i never thought i would've been treated like this from the same franchise. From the start the server Callaghan was so rude. Firstly, i asked for a staff discount because i work at another milestones location and thought i could get one but turns out that wasnt the case. I was completely fine with this but what i wasnt okay with was the fact that I simply said "excuse me" to Callaghan when he was walking towards the kitchen so i could ask a question/grab his attention he got all agitated, annoyed, and flat out disgusting saying that i cannot yell in a resturant and being flat out rude. I never knew there was a no saying excuse me rule at this location? I've been serving for quite some time now and people do this all the time its not rude its quite polite and effective in getting someones attention especially a servers. The manager came out saying that he was under a lot of pressure and thats probably why he acted that way and i stated that that is no way to treat a guest even under a lot of pressure. If you cant handle the pressure work at McDonald's not the serving industry. When the food hit the table there were hairs in the salad. This night couldn't have gotten any better. We sent it back and did not want a replacement. When it was finally time to bill out i wanted to ask the server one last time why he acted like that in hopes for him to redeem himself. He simply did not have the mental capacity to evaluate the situation and say a simple sorry. He completely blew up and walked away from the table when we were in the middle of talking to him. I dont think this was the first time Callaghans walked away from his problems. I walked up to him and asked him what was his problem and why he was doing this? And he proceeded to say that his owner is on the phone with my milestone locations owner(where i work) and i was just so confused because im assuming this was a bluffed threat he was trying to throw out?? If i can describe my experience at this location in one word it would be...
Read moreMy family decided to have brunch, instead of dinner, on Mother's Day this year. Booking late, my sister called a dozen restaurants, all of which were booked. Only Milestones had space. After our brunch, we wished that when my sister had called, Milestones had been fully booked too. If not for our server, Michaela, I would have given Milestones one star. Michaela was personable, attentive, and, regrettably necessarily, very apologetic. I tipped her 20%, despite our awful experience. We were seated at 11 am; we ordered our meals at 11:15 am (I was noting the time because when my sister booked, we were told that we could only have the table until 12:30 pm). Our meals began arriving at 11:55 am. I say "began" because more that five minutes passed between the time that the first person was served and the last person. my poor, hungry. eleven year old niece was served. I suspect that our order was forgotten because, as my poor, hungry niece kept pointing out, tables seated after us (we were a table of seven) were served well before us. When the food finally came: My mother's eggs were cold. (Earlier, her cocktail order was wrong: it was made with grapefruit juice instead of the orange juice that she ordered). My husband's and my sister's "over-easy" eggs were long overcooked. (My husband's eggs were dark brown; we were surprised that the kitchen would even send them out looking like that). Nobody's toast appeared toasted. My order of soft-poached eggs with ham appeared as cold poached eggs with solid yolks, and sausages. (Michaela took it away and brought me my order hot within five minutes; you rock, Michaela!). My husband asked me to note that the restaurant space was bright and and inviting. And I will add that the washrooms were very clean. But, given the food that we received after our more than forty-minute wait, Milestones still does not warrant three stars. Thank you, Michaela, from preventing our unfortunate (and not to be repeated) meal at Milestones from being a complete, "one...
