Goen — Restaurant in Toronto

Very poor business practices and ethics. I was a regular customer since the beginning, having been excited to have this new establishment in the neighborhood but can no longer support this establishment. The business owners knew me by name.

Tonight I was thoroughly disappointed, and deeply disheartened. I called in my order as per usual and picked in up in person. I realized part of my order was wrong once I was home.

I called back immediately and advised them of their mistake. I was immediately gaslighted and told that I had told them the wrong order. They asked for me to return the wrong rolls I received that night. I told them I could not return that night as I worked in the morning and had taken a taxi home. They then proceeded to tell me that the food could not be returned tomorrow as the food would be wasted which makes me question if they re-use food (I received avocado handrolls when I ordered salmon avocado rolls). When I reiterated that I could not come back that night and that the mistake was not mine, they then told me to come back tomorrow for a new order and pay for the difference between salmon avocado & avocado rolls - a mere 1$ difference per roll which is insulting. Yes a small mistake but their handling of it is atrocious.

This leaves an extremely sour taste in my mouth as I have been a repeated and loyal customer for years and shows devaluing of their patrons. Additionally I could not fully enjoy my meal due to this interaction. This experience denotes not only poor customer service, lack of professionalism and valuing pennies over reasonable customer service, care and accountability (not withstanding the suspected re-using of avocado handrolls). ??? What else do they re-use?

You've lost a customer and my referrals. Don't worry I will not be back for the 'correct order' only to be slapped with paying for your mistake. I will take my business where I am valued. All I wished for was adequate customer care and follow up without attitude - especially as a loyal and repeat customer. I don't think I am unreasonable. ...

I found this on one of the top five locations for a Japanese restaurant in Toronto and in my opinion, they clearly hold the rank. They are so well done, that I would believe that have come overseas after training, because this is unblievably more authentic than the majority of restaurants in toronto.

When I went back, I found out they were from overseas and still hold the tradition of wholeheartly welcoming and wishing farewell! It feels very comfortable to be treated like family!

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was pretty comfy and the staff was very friendly.

I ordered Yakitori, Black Dragon roll, chicken roll and vegetable tempura.

The Yakitori was grilled nearly perfectly with a tender inside and a nice firm exterior, without a lack of flavour. The yakitori was laid on a bed of smoked lettuce with a soysauce, futher complimenting the appitizer.

The black dragon roll was a main course, very filling and had expertly balanced flavours. No one ingredient stood out too strong and none of the textures were lacking. For both rolls the rice was done just right, which is not common in most restaurants. The grilled chicken roll was slightly dry and did not stand out to the rest of the menu.

Finally the vegetable tempura, it was also very well done. The vegetables themselves were also done just right, the texture and flavour ls were very appitizing even for tempura vegetables. They even offered a unique dip that I have not tasted in other restaurants, which was pleasently aromatic and did not overpower...
