NOTE: I will give a zero star if I have the option

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the lunch buffet experience my family and I had at your restaurant on. We were eagerly anticipating a delightful meal, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory and left us extremely disappointed.

Firstly, the sushi we ordered had an excessive amount of rice, which made me feel uncomfortably full after just a few pieces. To put this into perspective, the rice portion on sushi at Sushi Ichiban is at least three to four times larger than that at Sushi Kitchen. This significantly impacted our ability to enjoy the variety of sushi offered at the buffet, which was one of the main reasons we chose to dine at Sushi Ichiban.

Moreover, the tempura we ordered was served cold. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she took the dish away without offering any apology. Upon questioning her, she informed us that the chef had made extra tempura that other customers did not want, and that was why it was served to us cold. She assured us that she would ask the chef to prepare a fresh batch, but instead, the same tempura was reheated and returned to our table. This response was not only disappointing but also unacceptable.

Additionally, we ordered salad, seaweed, mango rolls, and hand cones at the same time we ordered our sushi, but these items never arrived until I questioned their whereabouts 30 minutes after we had finished eating the other sushi. This delay was ridiculous, and our children lost their appetites from waiting, leading us to cancel the hand cones and mango rolls they had ordered.

The level of service we received does not meet the standards we expect from a restaurant like Sushi Ichiban. We will definitely not be returning and will ensure to inform all our family and friends, so they avoid dining here in the future.

NOTE: Avoid this restaurant and go elsewhere, you will enjoy your food much better...

A Delightful Sushi Haven with Exceptional Service

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Ichiban Sushi for the first time after a creative rug-making date at Chillax Tufting Studio, and we were absolutely blown away by the entire experience.

From the moment we walked in, the warm, family-owned atmosphere was evident. The owners were incredibly kind and sweet, greeting everyone at the door and bidding farewell as they left. It's the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel welcome and appreciated.

To kick off our meal, we were treated to complementary fried dumplings, and they were a delightful start to our culinary journey. The miso soup that followed was rich and flavorful, setting the stage for the main event – the sushi rolls.

We decided to share three rolls: the Red Dragon Roll, Sunshine Roll, and Toronto Roll. Each roll was a masterpiece in its own right. The flavours were well-balanced, and the size of the rolls was impressive. The combination of fresh ingredients and expert preparation made each bite a true delight.

What truly set Ichiban Sushi apart was the exceptional service. The owners went above and beyond, advising us to take our time and assuring us that there was no rush to leave. This added a personal touch to our dining experience, making it more than just a meal but a memorable moment.

In conclusion, Ichiban Sushi offers not just outstanding sushi but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to its family-owned charm. From the complementary appetizers to the impressive rolls and the heartfelt service, our visit was nothing short of exceptional. Without a doubt, we'll be returning to Ichiban Sushi for another delightful experience....

Shockingly rude service. I asked to use the restroom quickly before ordering, they refused, which can be understood if people have misused restroom privileges at their establishment before, but then I asked If I could still order some sushi and they wouldn’t even look at me. Just shoo’d me away like trash and said “go to Tim Hortons”. I was quite confused because I can’t buy sushi at Tim Hortons. I can’t stress enough how rude and dismissive these people were; I’ve been in the service industry for years and the way I was treated here truly was deplorable.

EDIT: I can’t even express how far the response I’ve received to this reveiew is from what actually happened. There was no “berating”. There was a single request to “quickly use the restroom” - and I was immediately treated like trash, with there response of “NO!!!! GO TO TIM HORTON!!!!” I asked where Tim Hortons is, and they wouldn’t look at me. I asked, could I at least still order some food? (With no mention that I would order food of they let me use the bathroom?? I straight up just asked if I could still order sushi) They continued to treat me like trash refusing to look at me and simply shooing me away. I was dressed nicely, clean, polite… I’m not reviewing because I couldn’t use the restroom, I am reviewing because they refused to serve me and treated me with less respect than I give...

This is my go to place for at when I’m on King Street. I usually order the Charisha Bowl which is Sashimi (4 types of fish) with rice, miso soup and salad. I also have the sashimi lunch which is similar. Also good on menu is Volcano Roll, avocado crunch amongst many other special rolls. Their fish is notably fresh, the chefs and lady who serves the customers are super friendly consistently. If you want Japanese at a reasonable price and great service then this is the place.
