James Black Bear Pub — Restaurant in Toronto

The bartenders husband is very rude and he doesn’t mind his own business. He’s the guy who’s always in the back kitchen. I was having a heated discussion with one of the customer who I know and he decided to involve himself and defend the customer who was actually being rude to me. As the owner of the bar I don’t think he had a right to get himself involved into a customers argument especially when a women is defending herself. I feel like he defended him just because he was a man. Every woman has the right to defend herself against disrespect and he had no right to get involved in a conversation that he knew nothing about especially when it does not involve him.

He is very unprofessional. I’ve been going to this bar for the past 3 years and will never go back again. I would rather spend my money at bar that appreciates me as a customer. Also if you’re not Caucasian they won’t allow you to have a tab and will make you pay on the spot before opening your beer. There’s no point paying a tip if that’s the case. This business will fail if they continue to treat people...

No option to give no stars so had to give them 1. We went to find a place that had a pool table great they had one. We went in around 9pm. Not one single person. We asked the bartender if we could just play pool that we don't drink she said absolutely. After 3 games 2 guys came in and ordered a beer each. Bartender started yelling at us that it will be the last game that it's for customers only. We were paying to pay does that not make us customers. We asked the guys if they wanted the pool table they said no. After our game we left and went down the street to Harvey's. On our walk back the cue ball was still where we left it. Noone played pool and the 2 guys had left. Don't waste your time here. It's not my fault the pool table made more tonight...

Pretty decent place to go if you're looking to get hammered, play pool and sing karaoke on a Friday or a Saturday night. The crowd is mostly regulars from around the neighbourhood; 50/50 chance for either a chill night or a sketchy one. If you're set on karaoke and and cheap drinks within a 7 minute walking distance, go here. Otherwise just hit the Black Bear on O'Connor Dr...
