A small shop doing its take on modern Korean eats. What we had -
Drinks: Lychee martini (not pictured) - as someone whoās not a fan of martiniās I was pleasantly surprised by this sweet one. Dragon Fruit Sour - this is decent but honestly just that. Early Grey Highball (not pictured) - donāt really get any strong notes of the early grey flavour, probably a pass. Better off getting a fruity one
Overall I think drinks were decent but very fairly priced considering how expensive cocktails can be in the city these days.
Food: CBG potato pankcakes - these were just alright. I was honestly expecting something like a croquette. But was greeted with tiny squares of what was essentially a crispy latke. Tuna Toast - pretty solid starter, only qualm would be that the Melba toast like vehicles cracked in half when we picked them up. Kanari Crudo (not pictured)- probably my favourite dish of the night. A good balance of flavours when you get everything in one spoonful. Creamy chili beef pasta - essentially plated deconstructed, visually this might be more interesting and may allow you to leave the pasta sitting while you work your way through other items but it also leads to the beef being on the drier side if not mixed together thoroughly. Nevertheless topping the bread with some sauce and beef makes for a nice snack. The pasta itself was also decent. Truffle Chocolate Cake (not pictured) - while this was smaller than I expected it was kind of the perfect size to finish off the meal after all the other dishes and perfect level of sweetness that Iād look for.
The food was also decent and fairly priced imo.
The staff were friendly and the service was prompt.
The restaurant runs a loop of recent/popular k-pop songs so if the genreās to your taste youāll appreciate that. If not, the volume is quiet enough that youāll probably tune it out while talking to whomever youāre...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday, I'm going to share with you a treasure trove of Korean bistros in Toronto called Kanari, which not only has the most attractive staff and the most handsome bartender but also the most amazing food Beef Tartar: The raw beef is deftly served in a crispy cone, loaded with sesame oil, and melts in the mouth. The beef is tender and fragrant, and the unique taste of the crispy ice cream cone is really hard to stop one bite after another Creamy Beef Belly Chili: This creamy beef Belly Chili is a meat eater's heaven! The beef is extra generous, but the cream sauce is not greasy at all. Each bite can feel the rich milk flavor and tender beef, really is a double enjoyment of the taste buds Spicy Salmon Avocado Pressed š£ : The salmon box is filled with something crunchy and layered. The flavour is just right, not spicy or cloying. The freshness of the salmon and the smoothness of the avocado complement each other, and it's really delicious Salmon Tataki: Raw cured salmon, the sweet and sour taste is irresistible. The taste is very fresh, and every piece of fish is full of the taste of the sea. This dish is stunning both visually and tastefully Apart from the food, Kanari's service is just as impressive. Shop assistant sister is not only beautiful, but also the service is super good, gentle and careful attitude, make people feel at home. The little brother of the front desk bartender is more handsome, the wine is not only good-looking but also good to drink, a look is the double enjoyment of vision and taste This š wine is also a wonderful, we each ordered a cup, all very good. There is also a lot of soju and sake, and the one I really like is mio sparkling soju and drank two bottles in one sitting Kanari Zundu is a Korean bistro worth a try, not only the food is delicious, but also the service is considerate. For your next date or get-together with friends,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall a great experience. Highlight was definitely the servers, they were very welcoming and kind. Red hair girly was the best. Unfortunately due to capacity, we had to sit at the bar but the ambience was still very nice. Recommend getting a reservation since this place is always busy. Their beef belly pasta was something thatās been on my bucket list for a while and I would say it is worth it. Only area of improvement Iād say was that it was a bit too oily for my liking. I know beef belly is fatty but the yummy sauce was being overpowered by the oil, I would prefer it to be more cream forward as I could taste the flavor potential in the sauce but that oil aftertaste ruined it for me. I like this place because you can get fine dining esque food and interior for a pretty decent price, you can a main dish here for 15-30 dollars which in this economy is the new norm. I liked how they had mocktail options but the dragon fruit lemonade wasnāt something too special for 10 dollars, would have appreciated more of a dragonfruit flavour with real dragon fruit pieces and not so much sugar. The salmon tataki was definitely the highlight, well seasoned, nicely grilled, and super fresh. The raspberry cheesecake was a let down, aside from the hilariously small portion size and well ā¦shape, the presentation felt a bit childish and it did taste just like that. The wait time could have been worse but my partner got their food when mine was done so that was a bit awkward but...
