I’m writing to share my experience at your restaurant today at 18:51:54. I usually don’t leave complaints, but I felt the service I received today was unprofessional and disappointing.
A tall Korean man took my order (take-out), and unfortunately, his attitude made my visit uncomfortable from the beginning. I came in with a friend, feeling hungry and excited to try your food. Since I wasn’t familiar with the menu, I asked him politely if I could see it. From that moment on, his attitude seemed cold and unfriendly.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I quickly chose black bean noodles. I asked him if the restaurant served sweet and sour fried pork ribs, as I had seen this dish paired with black bean noodles in many Korean restaurants and on social media. Instead of kindly explaining that it wasn’t available and recommending other dishes, he appeared annoyed and responded in a way I couldn’t hear clearly due to the loud TV beside him. This made the interaction even more difficult.
When he asked how many pairs of chopsticks I needed, I didn’t catch what he said because of the loud background noise, so I asked him to repeat himself. But instead of answering me directly, he looked at my friend and asked her, “How many pairs of chopsticks does she want?”—as if I wasn’t there or couldn’t speak for myself. It wasn’t that he ignored me, but the way he acted made me feel like he assumed I couldn’t speak English, which felt incredibly disrespectful.
As someone who also works in customer service, I understand that not every day is easy. However, the way he treated me was not acceptable. From the moment I entered to the time I left, I didn’t receive a smile or a single moment of kindness from him. It felt personal, and I left the restaurant feeling more upset than hungry.
I tried the food and it was really good, the portion was quite big, I had to leave half of it and the pickled radish with the noodles was great — but this experience has made me hesitant to return. I truly hope this is not how your restaurant normally treats customers, because one rude staff member can damage the whole reputation of your business.
I know that you have a lot of stars and good reviews and don't care much about my review. But I still want to let the rest of the customers know and the restaurant itself know that there is still poor service happening in...
Read moreI recently dined at Korea House Restaurant and overall, I had a positive experience. While there were some areas that could be improved upon, the food was delicious, the service was satisfactory, and the pricing was reasonable.
Let's start with the food. The dishes at Korea House were pretty good. The flavors were authentic, and I appreciated the variety of options available. However, one aspect that could be improved is the portion sizes of the side dishes, especially when dining with a larger group. Considering that there were ten people at our table, it would have been nice if the side dishes were more generous.
Speaking of the service, it was decent but not exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive, but it was evident that they were understaffed during my visit. This led to some delays in service and made it challenging for the staff to accommodate specific requests promptly. For example, when a customer asks for an extra dish of kimchi, it would be better if the restaurant could offer it without suggesting that they finish the existing kimchi before refilling it. This small change in approach would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.
In terms of pricing, Korea House Restaurant's menu is reasonably priced. However, I did notice that some of the prices on the entree section were higher than expected. It would be a good idea for the restaurant to update its menu to reflect accurate pricing, as it can be disconcerting for customers to find discrepancies between the listed prices and what they are charged.
Despite these areas of improvement, I would still recommend Korea House Restaurant for a satisfying dining experience. The food is tasty, the service, while not exceptional, is adequate, and the prices are fair. With a few adjustments to their side dish portions, promptness in fulfilling customer requests, and menu updates, Korea House has the potential to become an even better dining...
Read moreKorea House is located conveniently in Korea Town of Christie, Toronto. I walked by this place many times but didn't dine there until recently.
Once you walked in, it has a nice cool unique ambience that feels like home. It's casual dining. Staff is friendly and provided good service.
Just like many Korean restaurants, they offer complimentary side dishes, they are super delish.
I ordered the spicy beef tofu stew. This is where the problem was. I could smell the beef not fresh, super frozen, you know those meats where you want to defroze? The defroze smell and I could taste the frozen beef. Usually, the spicy sauce or broth should cover the smell, but I could still taste the smell and taste of the frozen beef.
If you wonder, yes, I expect meat to be frozen if not fresh, which is fine, but I just don't know how long these beef has been stayed frozen to the point that after they defroze it, I can still smell and taste it. I usually don't like to waste food, I left most of the beef and just drink up the broth and the tofu.
If you ask me why I didn't complain while I was dining there, it's a small mama papa shop, is it to the point that I can't eat the whole thing? I can eat the broth, tofu, side dishes and rice and call it a day as I don't want to ask them to cook another one coz the end goal will be the same if they keep using the same frozen beef even if I ask for another one. There is no point.
I just either will order something else next time or never come back here.
Otherwise, this place is a cool place to dine with...
