If you happen to be in the Christie/Bathurst and Bloor area and you're in need of some good Korean food, please do consider going to Damda. Easily accessible by either Bathurst or Christie subway station, this local gem is a great place to go if you want to have a nice meal with a friend. The restaurant is spacious and the staff are polite and professional. I've been a few times now with friends and we've always received wonderful service and have never felt rushed to leave. You can actually sit and eat your meal and chat leisurely without feeling as though you are taking up space.
The menu is quite varied from the classic beef bulgogi to japchae, two of my personal favourites. Both are featured in the images provided. Teriyaki chicken is probably not something you'd expect to see at a Korean restaurant but it was equally delicious.
The images also show their sweet and sour fried chicken - this is a huge plate of food that can be found in their 'sharing' menu section. Thankfully, I went with friends because it was a hefty portion. The three of us ordered 4 dishes and we still had leftovers. Some meals like ours, will also come with a side soup.
Like many other Korean restaurants, the meal also comes with a variety of side dishes, from kimchi to salad to pickled daikon. I am a big fan of these side dishes. They really help to cleanse the palate in between the different foods at the table.
Overall, Damda is a wonderful restaurant to go to if you want a relaxed place to enjoy your food without feeling rushed or hurried. Just make note: they are closed on Tuesdays! I will definitely be going to...

Damda is a newer addition to the area, one that was attractive when looking at the clean sign and interior. Off whim decided to try this spot as opposed to going to some of the staple spots in the area. A decision that would turn out great.
Damda seems to be family run, and their owner chef, Chanbu Jeong, has unprecedented experience. You’ll be greeted at the door by one of the employees and if it isn’t busy you’ll be able to grab a table quickly. The place is really clean, as expected with a new restaurant.
I’ve so far been here two times and got to try a couple different things. My favourite Korean dish is Pork Bone Soup (감자탕), and is usually my benchmark for a good korean restaurant. Damda’s pork bone soup is moderately priced, and the meat used is really tender and easy to get the meat off the bone. The tteokbokki is also a great starter to share, and the rice cakes used here are much better than any of the restaurants in the area. The overall quality of ingredients and dishes in general at Damda are really high, and is a pleasure to eat accompanied by great pricing.
Damda has easily become my new favourite Korean restaurant in the area, and I’ll for sure be coming back again-and-again to try out their...
Read moreIt was 9:30pm and since they were closing at 10:30pm, I called to ask if they could still seat us if we got to the restaurant in the next 5 minutes. They were so kind to us and agreed. The fastest meal we’ve ever had but probably the best Korean food in the city. We were out by 10:35pm.
We were a group of 6 that ordered 4 mains and 3 appetizer dishes. For the appetizers, we ordered the seafood court dumplings, japchae and seafood pancake. We got the last order of japchae for the day so they loaded it with extra beef. It was also well seasoned and the glass noodles weren’t soggy like other spots.
I shared the pork kimchi stew and fair warning, it is spicy (same with the pork bone soup). Spicy but very flavourful. This stew is packed with rice cakes, kimchi and pork. One thing about Damda is that they used the same size stone bowls (dolsot) for both the pork bone soup and pork kimchi stew. Other Korean restaurants would normally serve the pork kimchi stew in a smaller stone bowl.
The service is beyond amazing despite the time crunch. There is a cash discount offered at Damda. I would highly recommend this spot within...
