There were multiple things that went “wrong” during my experience here.

Got seated but didn’t get any water/cups for about 10-15 minutes. There was one server (not sure if they were understaffed or something), and she was the one dealing with all the walk ins, delivery/take out orders, cashing people out, serving food, seating people… basically everything. Finally got our order taken after 15ish minutes of sitting down, and got a water bottle without any cups.

We ordered a seafood pancake and pork bone soup hotpot for 2 people, which comes with a stove. The stove was so dirty and had marks and stains from previous customers. A quick wipe would have sufficed. Once the hot pot came out, we had no bowls, cutlery, side dishes until 5 minutes later. It was busy, not a big deal, but typical Korean restaurants would have cutlery and sides before the mains come out.

The hotpot was so thick as if there was a lot of powder, unlike other pork bone soups I’ve had. It was like a sandy soup. Our seafood pancake had two short hairs in it, and I told the server and they remade it. The side dishes were so bland and didn’t have much taste. Our “bowls” for the soup were these tiny bowl plates that could barely fit any soup, let alone the big pork bones.

We didn’t know there were noodles in our hotpot so we didn’t stir it as often as we should have. The server comes over and turns off our stove and told us something is burning… if she had told us to stir frequently because there were noodles, we would have, but nothing was said. Our hotpot was just sitting on the turned off stove for the rest of the meal.

I overheard the server telling other tables that ordered after us that they don’t have anymore rice, so we confirmed with her if we would get rice and she said yes. When we were halfway done with our meal, the rice still hasn’t arrived. She comes over and tells us she forgot about it, and asked if we wanted it now or packed.

At this point into the meal, I was already quite disappointed. Then, the girls on the table next to us also ordered a hotpot and they found a “packet” in their soup. Looked like those moisture packets. Doesn’t affect me, but just added onto my frustration and disappointment.

As much as I wanted to like this place, I don’t think I’ll...

This was our FAVOURITE place, until recently. Apparently the place has new management since last week. We used to go here at least once a month, but do not plan to go back. They've jacked up the prices, aren't offering half of the things (that are still listed on the menu), and the quality is awful. The side dishes used to be homemade and made with care, and now you can tell they are store-bought. They aren't nearly as friendly as Imo was. It's really sad! This used to be the best place, but now, the overpriced, low-quality food is just not worth it.

EDIT (was post before December 2015): We go here often and love it! It's affordable, vegetarian-friendly, delicious and everyone is so kind there. They make vegetarian (fish-free) side dishes if you request vegetarian (including kimchi!). The food is fantastic - I can't list my favourite because I love them all! They also have gluten-free options. AND the tofu they use is GMO free and organic AND they ferment their own soy....

I luv dining at this place whenever I am visiting the Korean Town in the Christie area. This a small family run Korean restaurant. Hardworking people and their food are delicious.

Pre-pandemic, I come here often especially ordered its pork bone soup (kam ja tang), they serve you all the side dishes and you feel like you eat like a king. They are friendly people and if you ask to refill one or two side dishes, no question asked.

Their pork bone soup is slightly different from other restos, they used a different spicy sauce than others and they don't provide bean sprouts or potatoes in its pork bone soup and just straight up pork bones, so you either like that or no. I don't mind it coz pork bone is the main star.

Good price, good value, I always head home super full and happy.

During pandemic, they do take out and they still serve my pork bone, I go there to show my support often. Highly...

No frills at this place! And that is not a bad thing at all. Right at the top of the menu, it will state that Imonay means “aunt’s place” in Korean. And you can absolutely feel that small family vibe. Although not growing up in a Korean household myself, I found every bit of the food to feel homey and nostalgic. The prices are very reasonable and I can understand why this is a go-to Korean staple for college students. I had the bone broth upon recommendation and it was lovely. It was very satisfying, filling, and earthy. I also ordered the seafood pancake which does the trick. I prefer my Korean pancakes to have a bit more structural integrity and crispiness but for what you pay, it is a very small gripe. The space itself is very small but I went in the afternoon on Wednesday so tables were readily available. Don’t expect a seat available during peak hours though. My server was also very sweet and attentive!
