Me being a local Google Guide, I have been to many restaurants in my life, but none compares to this one. If I could give them anything less than 0 stars, I would definitely do it. I went yesterday 8 Nov 2021 for the first time after booking online. When I arrived, I had to look for the waitress to let her know I had arrived, but I kept waiting on her for a few minutes. After my family and I sat down (2 adults and 2 kids), we started to look at their menu. When we were ready, we asked the waitress to get us what we wanted, but she kept saying, Sorry this item is not available, that item is not available, so we decided to order the MADO Grand Breakfast $24.99 Per Adult - $12.99 Per Child (Ages 5-12). We were surprised that the waitress was telling us you can't order one, you MUST order two minimum! The same thing applies to kids. Imagine you going to any restaurant to order a burger for yourself, and they tell you SORRY two burgers is the minimum, ridiculous When I asked we just want to order one and at the same time we will order other items, she said sorry that's the policy! When it came down to the drinks, she mentioned that they have "fresh" orange juice, We ordered two for the kids, She came back after 10+ minutes to say sorry, we have one last cup of orange juice only! How a restaurant have one cup of orange juice knowing you have many customers coming, and you don't have drink to serve them?
When the food arrived (pictures attached), it was a shock, the food was cold, and there was only one tray that included 2 adults and 2 kids, Can you imagine! The service was horrible, I was the one asking to have plates, to have bread etc. While we were sitting, NONE of them came to us to ask if we needed anything. Or if we like the food, no one!
The minimum sitting time at this horrible restaurant is 2 hours, I couldn't stay any longer and left after 45 minutes only!
I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good time, decent food portions or acceptable prices,...
Read moreI recently visited MADO, a Turkish restaurant in Toronto, with a group of friends for brunch. Unfortunately, my overall experience was less than satisfactory.
Firstly, the absence of a printed menu and reliance solely on an online version created a significant inconvenience. The server on duty was unhelpful and unfriendly, providing little assistance in making our selections. This lack of guidance made the ordering process challenging.
The pricing of the dishes was unreasonably high, and to our surprise, each individual was required to place a separate order with no option for sharing. This policy seemed impractical for a group setting and contributed to an overall feeling of discomfort.
Furthermore, the serving of a small amount of bread was disappointing, given that Turkish cuisine often relies on bread as a staple. The initial bread basket, containing small buns instead of traditional Turkish bread, did not align with our expectations. Even when we requested another basket, we were only offered white flat bread that was neither fresh nor of high quality.
To make matters worse, the menu was not available in printed form, and we were forced to email it to ourselves for reference. Additionally, a service fee was automatically added to the bill, eliminating the option to choose a tip amount. This left us feeling pressured to pay an extra 20% regardless of our satisfaction with the service.
While the restaurant boasted a beautiful atmosphere and Turkish ambiance, the high prices, lack of hospitality, and inflexible policies made it an unacceptable dining experience. I hope the management considers these issues to improve the overall customer...
Read moreFinally, I got the opportunity to visit MADO for breakfast. Many of my friends hyped this restaurant up, so I was super excited to visit. As soon as I stepped foot through the front door, I understood why it was hyped to that level. The ambiance immediately stimulated all my senses. I felt like a child in theme park. The colours, lighting, music smell, layout all made me feel happy and welcome. If you are looking for an authentic Turkish feel, this isn't the place for you, as you will experience an infusion of Turkish and international cultures. The place was very clean, and the display of bakeries, Turkish delights and Turkish ice cream was attractive and very inviting. However, the flavours of the dishes we tried did not live up to expectations. We tried: The menamen 3/5 - the tomato flavour was overwhelming The kaymak - the texture and the taste was of that served from a can 2/5 The kashar cheese gözleme 3/5 - cheese did not have any flavour, but the dough was spot on. The biggest disappointment was that the bread was cold.. considering that this restaurant is also a bakery, this should have been spot on.
The service 5/5 - everybody was helpful and did their job with a smile on. Service was quick, and the food came to the table quickly.
Bathrooms 5/5 - clean, well designed and well thought out. I love that I do not have to touch the door handle to open the main door.
Prices 4/5 everything was reasonably priced compared to other Turkish restaurants in Toronto
I plan to revisit MADO and try new items on the menu, and hopefully change my review from 4...
