Update: after posting an initial 3 star review(see below) I have come back to update on what has happened since. In the reply to this, I was encouraged to contact milestones at Scarborough Town Center and they arranged the opportunity for me to communicate with them about the experience. I spoke with Laurel she was super apologetic, very understanding and it was nice to have someone reach out just to speak to me about my experience. She also was nice enough to make it up to us by sending us an invitation and a gift card to come back, thank you.
My fiancee and I went to milestones near Scarborough Town to enjoy a lunch and use a voucher I had where we save $20 dollars, this is of little consequence but does play a role in my story. We ordered a drink each appetizer and our main course along with a Ceasar salad. Our drinks came quickly and were enjoyable. Our mains came out fairly quickly but I then realized our appetizer was missed. I called the servers attention and asked her to cancel the appetizer as seeing as our main course arrived it was no longer needed or desired. She admitted that it was not keyed in so this is the reason it didn't arrive, fair and not overly troublesome. We proceeded to eat our meal and I found my meal enjoyable(Sushi bowl with Ahi Tuna). My fiancee got the Korean Crispy Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and a Ceasar salad. Now where this goes wrong is the server never checked in as is customary to see if we needed anything or how we were enjoying our meal, it was a bit busy so this can be forgiven as well. My fiancee took one bite of her sandwich and was not happy with the "over sauced" construction of the sandwich, she also found the SPF side overly salty, so she decided to simply eat her salad. We chose not to complain as it is not our nature. When the server finally came around I had finished and she asked if we needed a takeaway box for a clearly fully intact meal on my fiancees plate. We declined as it makes no sense to take home a meal she didn't enjoy. The server did offer to take the meal off the bill which was nice, I won't say this was totally expected but seems customary at restaurants, the sad part is had she come half way or to check in, my fiancee may have been able to get something else other than her salad for lunch. We were sitting close to the kitchen and heard the server almost immediately call out loudly to the kitchen of a complaint with regard the sandwich, wasn't rude other than the volume level and tone of her voice was clearly annoyed and for a guest to hear this detracts from the experience. The server was given the coupon upon her return and we asked for our bill. She advised us she would get her manager to take care of the the coupon/voucher. A minute or two later who I assume was the manager on duty came over to present us our adjusted bill minus the $20 and the meal that was not consumed as the server promised. What I find off putting was the manager never addressed or apologized for at the very least the meal that was not enjoyed, as a matter a fact he didn't say a single word at all, which begs the question: why did you need to come over to process payment, as the bill was adjusted so the server could've completed this part as well. The adjusted bill was about $45 and I tipped 20% partly because I enjoyed my meal and I didn't want it to appear that we were completely disappointed or looking for some sort of deal on our lunch, the voucher I had gotten from a previous visit to Milestones(other location) was a deal enough and will say that visit was pleasant.
Over all I would say it was a less then favourable dining experience as a couple, and although I enjoyed my food and drink I'll be hard pressed to get my fiancee to try Milestones again and for sure it would be impossible to get her to return to this establishment. I gave a 3 as I don't think the server was good or bad, and I liked my food but as described there were many shortcomings. I think my review is more than fair and would hope there was more care placed on over all...
Read moreIt was unbelievable how this place handled Valentine’s day. I made a reservation for my girlfriend and I well over a week out for 8pm. We arrived to a crowd around the hostess of people who had also made reservations.
After checking in for our reservation about 5 mins late, not because we arrived late (we got there 10 mins early) but because we couldn’t even get to the hostess until then, we were then told it would be 5-10 mins for our table. No problem, it’s Valentine’s day, and we totally understand that things can run behind a bit.
Fast forward 40 mins and we are still stuck in this growing crowd in the front of the restaurant. Half are irritated people who also had reservations and half are uber eats drivers who are being told their orders won’t be ready for a while. I ask a couple beside me when they made their reservation for? They tell be there’s was for 7:30pm.. it was 8:45pm!!
At this point we’re freezing because the front door has been held open the entire time because of the crowd. I’m realising that continuing to wait probably doesn’t make much sense. With the kitchen this backed-up, it’s probably going to take forever to get our food even if we do eventually get in. We decide we’ll wait another 15 mins max. Before the 15 mins pass, a customer leaving after their dinner warns me that they had to wait over an hour for their food after ordering, and when they did get it, it was cold and overcooked.
At this point we decided there was no point to staying. It was almost 9pm and there was still no sign that we would be getting in soon, as there were people there before us who still hadn’t been seated. We gave up and left.
This was the worst experience I have ever had going out for Valentine’s day dinner. I have never seen a place do a worse job of managing reservations. I don’t know if it’s from spreading the kitchen too thin by also doing uber eats orders, or just plain overbooking, but to wait over an hour for a time you RESERVED is absolutely ridiculous.
I would like to add that this is not a complaint about the staff. The hostess remained pleasant and professional the entire time. The servers all appeared to be doing their best and remaining professional and polite as well. This all comes down to horrible mismanagement.
I understand that Valentine’s day is a crazy night for restaurants, but I have gone out for dinner almost every Valentine’s day for the last 15 years, and I have never experienced having to leave a place over an hour after our reservation because we likely weren’t going to get in anytime soon anyways. To have a nice, romantic night ruined like that was very frustrating and confusing.
By far, the worst restaurant experience of my life. It was my first time going to Milestones and I still haven’t eaten there.. and I don’t think I ever will. Someone in management should take a hard look at how this night was handled and figure out how to avoid this level of...
Read moreWe came on a Tuesday for lunch. There were lots of menu options which was nice. I ordered a beet and goat cheese salad with grilled shrimp and my husband had the chicken parm. We also ordered non-alcoholic mocktails. However, the negatives were enough for us not to come back. First of all, they sat us near the kitchen which we don’t mind, however, on this day the manager (or whoever he was) was very loudly coaching the kitchen staff on making orders. I specifically heard him say when they were making my salad that the chef was “giving away salad” and that it was too big a portion. When it got to the table it was supposed to have candied pecans and goat cheese in it. I had exactly two candied pecans and had to search for the goat cheese. For a minimal amount of lettuce, some blueberries and red onion with 4 grilled shrimp, it was priced way too high at $29 dollars. I hardly call that “giving it away”. My husband said his chicken Parmesan was good but that was also priced high at $27 dollars. We’ve had better quality for less elsewhere. The mocktails were good. The entire lunch all we could hear was the manager loudly coaching the kitchen staff which made it a bad experience. Service was okay, we never were offered water which we thought was pretty standard. In his defence, he seemed to be serving the entire room alone and probably couldn’t get back to us before we had finished our meals. At the end of our meal, the internet went down and they had to reset the wifi. Now we know this is out of their control, but we waited almost half an hour for the bill and there were still problems when the machine came. We had a meeting to attend and tried to patiently wait. No one offered us anything during that entire time we waited, not even water. We’ve had many attentive managers and wait staff at other restaurants that make sure the customers are having a good experience even when things go wrong. As we left, our waiter flagged us down to give us a coupon for a free appetizer. Nice, however, for the trouble, other restaurants we have been to have compensated our meals for far less hassle. We sadly likely won’t be using the free appetizer. Overall, the restaurant decor and general atmosphere is nice but after today, we likely won’t be returning to this location even though it’s probably good on some days. It unfortunately left a bad...
