Came here for lunch today (Saturday) around 2! Only a third of the restaurant was filled. Customers slowly flowed in and out throughout my time there. I made a visit with my mom because we had a gift card to use!
We ordered Shirley Temples, a chicken quesadilla with sweet potato fries, and a third honey garlic ribs that came with coleslaw and a side of my choice – I went with market vegetables. I also ordered a cup size of their chicken noodle soup. Each entrée comes with their signature chicken sauce that tastes weirdly good.
The Shirley Temples were OK – just ginger ale, cranberry juice? Topped with a maraschino cherry. It was nothing special and I've definitely had better iterations of this drink literally anywhere else.
The chicken quesadilla was filling and we ended up doing takeout for half of it plus the sweet potato fries. It came with a salsa dip, sour cream dip, and Swiss chalet sauce.
The 1/3 honey garlic ribs was delicious and just the right size for a lighter lunch. Paired with the Swiss chalet sauce was even better for adding to the flavour. The ribs easily and cleanly fell off the bone, though I wish it had a bit more meat to it! The side of market vegetables were just cauliflower and broccoli boiled in a little salt water. The dish came with the Swiss chalet sauce, a soft, moist and warm dinner roll served with butter on the side, and a small sauce cup of coleslaw.
The chicken noodle soup was the perfect size for one person with plenty of shell pasta, shredded chicken, and veggies, and didn't make me feel too full. It was a bit on the salty side but not overpowering.
After you finish your meal, they give you a bowl of lemon water to cleanse your fingers with.
Wanted to give a shoutout to Yvonne, our server, who elevated our experience, and I really felt by the end of the meal that she deserved a shoutout and recognition! She was very attentive to our needs – she checked in and stayed close by in case we needed anything but didn't do it in such a way where it felt forced or annoying or imposing. She knew we might need a few more napkins so she brought it to our table before we could ask. She knew we might want a takeout box so she brought it over, let us ask the question, and had it right with her to give to us immediately! She helped us process the gift card we had and then made sure to go through the receipts with me since there was still an outstanding balance for me to pay. I really appreciated her attentiveness and warmth! She seems like a well seasoned professional who'd been doing this for years because of how much of a natural she was. She was always smiling and happy to help, and I felt like she stood out among many servers I've seen here and elsewhere, so I hope she gets the recognition she deserves from her team.
Anyway, overall I would definitely come back with family and friends because of the experience I had during this...
Read moreI came with my daughter to have dinner today and we were judged/discriminated against by the hostess. We entered and I said 1 adult 1 child. Just to explain my child is not the typical 10 year old hight she is tall 5’6 and grew tall in less than a year. But she is still a child and deserves to be treated as a child. This hostess immediately gave us a dirty look and proceeded to say she will allow her to have a kids menu this time. Like she was doing us a favour and implying that I am lying! So I asked what she means and I again stated she is 10 and confirmed that the kids menu is 10 and under. She made it clear that she did not believe me and again said I am giving her the kids menu but if someone says anything…..by this time I am very upset. I asked her who is going to say something? She could not answer and she repeated I will give her the kids menu this time but if anyone says anything…….I still don’t understand who is going to say something about a 10 year old child eating from the kids menu! All of this is happening in front if my child. We left and I will never go back there again. The ignorance of her is appalling! I guess because we are black we can’t afford to eat at Swiss Chalet so I need to lie about my child's age?!?!? After this my child was upset! and had I had to encourage her not to feel bad because of one persons ignorance and illiteracy. For months she has already been feeling insecure about being the tallest girl in the class and to come to an establishment and be treated like that is unacceptable! Just because she does not look the way she believes a 10 year old should look and we were not the right colour for her!! I will also be filling a complaint with...
Read moreWe had a profoundly disappointing experience with Amy, our server. For our daughter's birthday dinner, a party of 10 people with a total bill nearing $400, we encountered numerous issues. Initially, Amy insisted on taking my order before my granddaughter's, despite her being ready to order from the kid's menu. Amy believed it made more sense for adults to order first. However, I was not prepared, and my granddaughter was eager to place her order. After abruptly taking my order, Amy failed to take my granddaughter's order despite her request for pizza and coke. Furthermore, Amy demonstrated overly aggressive behavior, restricting our family's meal choices. When taking my order, she immediately asked if I wanted fries or a baked potato, and upon requesting coleslaw, she gave me a peculiar look and neglected to inquire about my beverage choice, which I had to remind her about. Although I understand that she may have been busy, neglecting customers is unacceptable. Moreover, the pizza took an excessively long time to arrive, resulting in the rest of the family finishing their meals before my granddaughter's food arrived. Amy treated this situation lightly, pointing at my daughter's food and saying, "Look, she didn't even start, so it's okay." My daughter was waiting for my granddaughter's food to arrive out of respect. When my husband expressed his disappointment, Amy continued laughing and joking with him. However, upon mentioning the possibility of withholding the tip, she immediately apologized and became extremely friendly. Despite her subpar service, we left a $20 tip. Additionally, Amy refused to provide us with our...
