WHAT TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DESPICABLE TO SAY THE LEAST!
I've dined at numerous restaurants across the globe, and my experiences have varied greatly. I've encountered some truly exceptional ones, several that were just average without any standout moments, and unfortunately, a few truly awful ones.
One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had was at the Moxies Dixon Road Restaurant, located at 55 Reading Ct, Etobicoke, Toronto, Canada.
A few months ago, I visited this establishment for lunch and specifically requested a quiet area within the restaurant. To my dismay, I was seated there without a server attending to my table for nearly an hour, despite my repeated attempts to get their attention.
Even when they finally served my lunch, there was no staff member in sight throughout my meal and after I had finished. After concluding my meal, I even used the restroom and could have left without settling the bill. However, I decided to go to the entrance and pay my bill, almost as if I were in a fast-food joint.
A polite young woman working there apologized profusely for the horrendous experience, and I left, thinking it might have been a one-time occurrence.
Unfortunately, my optimism was shattered during a recent visit just two days ago, an experience that still leaves me and my guests in disbelief.
We commenced our evening with an order of chicken wings, hoping for a delightful evening. As the server was about to place the dish on our table, it slipped, causing a piece to fall on the floor and splattering BBQ sauce on my clothing. To our astonishment, the server merely chuckled at his mishap, dropped the plate without any apology, and walked away.
We managed to clean up some of the mess from the spill and sought the assistance of another staff member, requesting to speak with a manager.
This is where the nightmare truly began. The manager, who introduced himself as Aizaz Butt, arrived with a single chicken wing on a plate and carelessly dumped it onto our table, displaying a disrespectful attitude that even animals don't deserve.
Shocked and appalled, we expressed our belief that the least he could do was offer an apology or replace the contaminated plate. He responded rudely, questioning whether it was merely one piece of chicken that had fallen to the ground. His defensive demeanor, with both hands in his pockets, left us even more stunned.
In response, we decided to leave and requested that the receptionist summon the manager. Another staff member, a young man, arrived, also with hands in pockets, and claimed to be aware of the situation. However, he offered no apologies, didn't inquire about our names, and seemed eager to usher us out of the restaurant. We asked for his card and departed, utterly disgusted.
The only individual who extended an apology was the young lady at the reception, and it was clear that she was as taken aback as we were by the treatment we received and the manager, Alex Molina's, uncooperative and unwelcoming attitude. This was an absolutely abysmal dining experience, to...

I have been coming to this Moxies location since 2017 with my partner. Weve spent a lot of money at this location over the years. We’ve always had good food and good service which why it pains me to write this review. We came here on Saturday, December 28th at around 9:30pm and we also stayed a night at the Sandman hotel to just have a quick staycation for the holidays. We ordered the dry ribs, steak, and was recommended the new pork belly ramen. The server was honest and said she hadn’t tried it but told my partner to give it a shot. So we did.
A few hours later my partner started to feel very ill. I was a bit nauseous myself but didn’t think anything of it. We fell asleep in the hotel, and then was abruptly woken up at around 3am that night to my partner violently ill. Throwing up, having SEVERE gastro pain and diarrhea. Immediately after eating the ramen he knew something was off with it once we left. I have never in the 7 years I’ve been with him have I seen him this sick. We were up the entire night, so much so that he slept on the floor of the bathroom unable to hold anything down.
Needless to say this ruined our stay. He was throwing up all the way until we had to check out - which we extended due to him barely being able to stand. I called down to the restaurant to speak to management and tell them what had gone on, to potentially get a refund or some accommodation. Spent 200.00 there just for majority of it to be thrown up and wasted. My partner was near hospitalized for this. It ruined our entire holiday as to this day he still doesn’t feel normal.
The girl we spoke to promised someone would call us back but hasn’t. I called to mainly make sure no one else gets seriously ill. If this was my mother or father god knows if they would have survived it. It was the most brutal case of food poisoning I have EVER witnessed. I left my number and I have yet to get a response back. I am so distressed and upset. I really hope they take more precaution when food handling or storing their food. Having worked in the food industry for years, this was such an avoidable situation. I have no choice but to a) never come here again, and b) warn everyone I know who comes here not to eat here as it’s a huge safety hazard they seem not to take...
Read moreToday i experienced my for the first time of my life real prejudice & that i thought would nver happen to me.
my family goes to eat dinner every single weekend and today we decided to keep it simple and went to this local moxies. -
to start off, my mother odered a mojito and the lime and mint put inside were not fresh at all leaving my mother to ot eve want to drink it.-
Now as we are ordering we order a bunch of things: steak, chipotle lemon chicken, a salmon and after we ordered these three, my dad decides to order some wings as well, alongside he asked if his main dish can come with garlic bread on the side to which she said no, not offering a possibility to add it to the side and then my mother finally ordered another caesar salad. -
when she ordered the caesar salad, the waiter, comlpetely unconsiously, exclaims in quite a loud tone, " you know the food is not free right?" as if we came to a resturant expecting free food.-
i lock eyes with my dad, in shock of what we just heard we laugh to eachother feeling quite uncomfortable & upset over those remarks in front of two large groups beside our booth.
this notion of her assuming that we were demanding anything for free shows me exactly how she felt about my people maybe based on past experiences or im not sure but the prejudice undertone of her unconcious remark, is something i have never experienced of my two decade life. -
we decided to talk to a manager about it and switched waiters. the service after that was better but that girl left a bad taste in mt mouth that not even my favourite meal could fix. i do applaud the other staff for their attempt at hospitality after but the damage was already done. I hope the staff repremanded her for that
overall, i have never experienced something like this and i still feel a little weird about it. it is just a reminder that as a person of darker skin tone, there is certain beliefs that people may hold maybe due to one experience with a certain culture/group not only for my culture but for all and i now release any prejudice against anyone as i know how that would feel.
if anyone feels the need to discuss this further do not hesitate...
