Was not impressed with our dinner the other night. The gentleman who was our server threw us for a loop with his lingo/terminology to the point there were too many moments we were trying to decipher what he was saying and mainly if he was actually talking to all his tables like that or just us because for some odd reason he thought we could relate? But we found it all highly unrelatable.
Food wise we were underwhelmed with our mains and steak bites which were over done and dry. We all ordered New York steaks, one with add on lobster and one with shrimp, the other with no add on. The plates were piping hot to the point one of us got burnt trying to move the plate closer, and the food on the plate wasn’t nearly as hot as the plate. We figured they just keep the plates super hot to help keep the food warm idk. The steaks didn’t get a chance to rest so the plates had pools of blood on them which mixed with the mashed and vegetables on the plates. It was so unappealing and left two of us not able to eat our sides and forcing to eat our steaks as we were so hungry. Had to use napkins to soak some of it up and eat the steak off a side plate. All the steaks had no signature chop steak spice seasoning which left them tasting dry and just bloody. Pretty much just a piece of meat. The steak spice takes the steak to a different level amongst other things of course. But the other night it was not it at all. The add on lobsters were over cooked and looked as if they were sitting there and just reheated for the order. We’ve been to chop many times and have never had these issue before. So it was shocking. More so the time we ordered the place was not crazy busy. And we were clearly not in any rush.
A supervisor did come to the table but we were pretty much done our food and the way hunger had us, we were not going to wait for steaks to be made again. At this point the restaurant was pretty full. And the what would make us happy scenario would have been things done correctly the first time so there wouldnt have been any issues. We just ate what we could and called it a day. One of us couldn’t even eat the rest of the steak she was so turned off. Even showed the server the literal pool of blood my food was sitting in and told him to show his manager as he was clearing the plates. Don’t know if he did because nothing was said. Should have taken a picture that’s how bad it was. The food is normally great hence we would go back all the time. The ball was dropped this time which was disappointing and the meals cost a good amount, so quality and standards have to match. Makes it difficult to recommend or even go back to Chop.
As for the atmosphere, it’s a nice little vibe. We were in great moods having our little celebration and enjoying one...

Since my last visit last year, food service and quality has dropped significantly.
My family and I decided to stop by for their Summerlicious dinner offering after having a phenomenal time last year during Winterlicious.
We ordered appetizers which came out first for the rest of my family excluding me. I had to wait over 20 minutes for the floor manager to come over and ask how our apps were before I told him that I didn’t receive my appetizer yet. Our server was huddling with other servers somewhere else. Floor manager apologized and went to the kitchen and let me know that somehow they misplaced the ticket. My appetizer then came 40 minutes AFTER the rest of my table was served. The rest of my table had already finished eating.
My father-in-law had to ask three times for a water refill before our server came around.
We all ordered the Black Truffle Sirloin with different meat temps and almost all of them were tough and chewy (had a lot of silverskin), keep in mind we asked for Medium-Medium Rare.
I understand servers and service will be busier during dinner time but we stopped by when the restaurant was half empty. Our server barely stopped by to check on us hence the delay on appetizers and even drinks. Every time we glanced to see if we could wave her down, she was huddled with the other servers or nowhere to be found. Definitely not worth the price this time around.
This used to be my favourite steakhouse and it’s sad to see it drop so far down after such a great experience last year.
———————— Chop Steakhouse and Bar is a great place to visit for a delicious meal. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I recently visited the Oakville location for their Winterlicious menu, and I was not disappointed.
The menu offered a variety of options, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. I started with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and flavorful. For my main course, I had the steak, which was cooked to perfection and served with a side of mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The dessert was a decadent chocolate cake that was the perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend Chop Steakhouse and Bar for their Winterlicious menu. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are attentive and friendly. It’s a great place to go for a special occasion or just a night out...
Read moreVery disappointed again. After a subpar Summerlicious experience last summer, I gave this place another chance as I have been here in the past and it was exceptional. On my visit today, I was extremely embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to my friend as they completely missed the mark with the service and could not recover throughout the whole dinner service. Summary: Wrong Appetizers brought to the table Waited about 20 minutes for water. The water came after the appetizers though ordered before our food order was taken Steak was ordered medium came out well done. Asked for the seasonal vegetables that came with the steak to be substituted with mushrooms. The server did not advise that there would be additional charge. When the steak came out, it came out with the original vegetables and not the mushrooms. They replaced the plate to address, the overcooked steak and the wrong side. Though they did try to recover as quickly as possible, my friend had completely finished her meal by the time my new one was brought out. They still charged me $3 extra for the mushrooms that they failed to send out originally Wrong desserts were brought to the table. Noticed later that the server did infact punch in the wrong desserts on the bill The creme brulee bread pudding was completely flavourless. I took one bite and left the rest. The server cleared the plates and did not ask how we found the desserts. The table next to us complained about their dessert as well and asked that it be comped, an opportunity they were provided as the server actually asked them how they found their dessert unlike us Waited 20 minutes hoping to flag down our server for the happy hour menu (perhaps the service is faster dining inside but we were on the patio) We were served the bill with no apologies or compensation for the horrible experience. When we pointed out to the server that there had been many issues they were kind enough to comp our 2 happy hour drinks ($7) and a side of fries. Though the gesture was appreciated it did not feel like enough of a compensation for the overall terrible experience and I would not be able to recommend this place again. Unfortunate. Patio - beautiful, fireplace at night is practical and adds a nice touch Food - For a steakhouse the steak is not up to par. I would recommend the Keg over Chop. Enjoyed the birria...
