Osmow's is awesome, and I recommend it to anybody.
I will admit, my experience at the Military Trail location was marginally better (larger portion of protein, and a little more generous with the white sauce), but nitpicking aside, this place still gets 5 stars.
The food is good, the large portion of chicken on the rocks is a bit on the expensive side at $10.99 + tax, but is genuinely large and filling. When compared to other Shawarma places downtown, its hands down, the most generous portion I've had so far. For some reason, fries instead of rice costs $2 more, so I haven't tried that yet.
On top of this, the people I interacted with were very polite. One visit doesn't make a trend, but seeing polite staff, extended hours during Ramadan, etc, it becomes apparent that customer service is important.
I'd definitely recommend over a place like Paramount. As for the cheaper places, it's really a question of how hungry you are and how OK you are with just chicken, rice and the sauce, as other places with throw on salads, turnips, etc as part of the serving, but in some cases leave you not full.
In short, 5 stars for getting what I paid for, food tasting good and not...
Read moreUpdate: Over the last 2 weeks I have thrown about 5 sandwiches in the garbage. Looks like they heat the chicken from last night or last week I don’t know in the water. So it should never be called shawarma. I still appreciate the customer service but honestly the food quality is garbage. Management should do something about the food
I recently visited Osmow's Shawarma restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and authentic, the shawarma wrap was packed with flavor and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was lively and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
However, I did take note that there did not seem to be any Middle Eastern people working at the restaurant. While it is not a requirement for employees to be from the same cultural background as the cuisine they serve, it can be helpful for authenticity and cultural understanding in the preparation of the food. Nevertheless, this did not affect the quality of my meal and overall experience.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Osmow's Shawarma for its delicious food and...
Read moreHorrible. Horrid. Cheap.
They relocated from the John location to this new college location. I could not be more disappointed. Service was horrible, not to mention how cheap the employees are. I ordered chicken on the rocks and it basically consists of rice and chicken shawarma with creamy garlic sauce on top. As decilicous as that sounds I was so unhappy with my meal.
The employee scooped rice into the container and decided that he had accidentally put too much in. Sounds reasonable, but, he put an extra take out spoonful of rice. So he goes and scoops out that one plastic spoonful of rice before putting the chicken in on top. I don't think I need to continue and mention how microscopic the chicken was I the box. Looks like I just ordered rice! They charged me for extra sauce which was completely fine, but this employee puts less sauce in the box compared to the box I ordered without the extra sauce ??
I hope this rant, is helpful for future costumers. There is an Osmows near York University campus which is a lot better, if you don't...
