I'm on the fence about this Petit Potato location.
The Pros:
The food is consistently delicious! I have not found a dish yet that I don't like. Here's what I've ordered from most to least ordered. Names are from memory and may not be exact
Uni Spaghetti Gyudon Seafood Sake Udon Wonton Soup (only at this location) Teppan Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce and Fettucine Mango Pomelo Sago Teppan Shrimp with Tomato Sauce and Spaghetti Strawberry Golden Toast Coconut Toast Mango Milk Vietnamese Coffee Mentaiko Spaghetti with Seafood Chrysanthemum hot tea Gomae Port Tonkastu Ramen
The owner of this location is very friendly and allows for corrections to price when an order goes wrong/the experience wasn't up to par (for dine in).
The atmosphere is the best out of all the Petit Potato locations. They have the cleanest bathrooms and the best decor.
The Cons:
This location is prone to screw ups. 2/3 times I've dined in, and 1/3 times I've got takeout, there has been an issue. Here's what happened.
Dine in 1: The Pork Charshu still had butchers twine wrapped around it when the ramen was served. The meal was ordered late in the evening, and the restaurant was 60% full. My bill was reduced by 10%.
Dine in 2: I ordered the Wonton soup with added thin noodles. 5 minutes after my partner gets his food, a server brought out the dish and circled the area. She was trying to figure out which table it belonged to (ours) but never checked with us and brought the dish back to the kitchen. 20 minutes later, the owner approaches our table and asks if we're waiting on food. I tell him about the missing soup, and he gets the kitchen to refire the order. 10 minutes later, the dish is served.
Takeout 1: I placed a takeout order for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. I pay and sat at the restaurant waiting for my order next to a couple of guys doing the same. 20, 30, 40 minutes roll by, and we all haven't got our orders. The guys checked in with the server, and the server said the order didn't go through from the web app. The guys showed the server a picture of the confirmation that the order was placed. She returns, saying that the kitchen will need 30 minutes to complete their order. The guys don't want to wait and ask for a refund. The server isn't able to give them one in the moment and asks for their number so the owner can contact them to process the refund. They leave empty-handed. I ask about my order. The server goes to check with the kitchen and returns to say that the kitchen needs an additional 15 minutes to complete the order because one of the items I ordered sold out. When I finally get my order, I ask for a refund of my tip because they don't deserve a tip from this experience. The server does the same trick with me and takes down my number, stating the owner will contact me to process the refund. GUESS WHAT...refund was never processed.
If you don't have a phone, the staff are taken aback that they have to take your order the old fashion way with pen and paper.
I haven't been back since which pains me because the food is...
Read moreOk to preface, I LOVE Petit Potato and have always wished they had a downtown location. Wish granted! I've been waiting ALL summer for them to open since I found out. I've finally checked them out on my own one week after they opened up their doors.
Now to the meat and potatoes of my review. Interior decor and vibe was great. Service was fantastic!
Food now. My go-tos for Petit Potato are generally: imitation shark fin soup lamb teppan pasta (xtra enoki, xtra cheese, black pepper sauce and i substitute the pasta choices with udon) durian cheese pizza
Eclectic mix? I know. Still these are my faves usually. Recipes are the same as the other locations, but execution was a little off. I'm giving benefit of a doubt because it just opened (gotta get them sea legs amirite?)
Imitation shark fin soup - overall pretty much the same but was less rich (maybe a little watery) because I could taste sweetness. So not quite the balance I was expecting. Ended up chucking all the red vinegar provided into the soup and used the white pepper provided, and slurped it all up.
Lamb teppan pasta - this is the one I obsess over: meaty cheesy buttery saucy happiness. One thing I was sad about was not being able to substitute the pasta for udon (which I've happily paid the premium for many times from the Leslie Square location). That's fine though. Sad but fine, went with classic spaghetti. Now, here's where I was actually disappointed. The taste was not there for me. Tasted no butter. No richness (which usually comes from salt). The black pepper taste was barely there, so had to ask for more black pepper. Maybe went light on the sauce? The meat did not absorb any flavor as such (not enough butter and/or sauce) and tasted bland.
Durian cheese pizza - this is my guilty pleasure. Toppings were perfect - exactly as I also obsess over in my dreams. The fail here was the crust. It was overcooked. It was hard enough that I could not cut it with a knife without compromising the structural integrity of a pizza slice shape - AND I broke a sweat trying. Service was gracious enough to take it back into the kitchen and cut all of it into slices. Biting into the pizza was like a slice of heaven and a hard place.
Took the rest home as takeout and I'll try to salvage, because the tasty foundation is there, just need more sauce, salt, butter for the pasta and moisture for the pizza crust.
Still I look forward to visiting this location in the future,...

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the stylish, modern decor that perfectly sets the tone for a memorable meal. The ambiance is lively yet inviting, and the staff’s warm hospitality only adds to the overall positive experience.
For the main course, I opted for the C01 Spot Prawn Seafood ChaZuke, and it did not disappoint. Served in a hot iron bowl, this dish features two plump spot prawns, two perfectly sliced pieces of salmon, and three delicate slices of scallops, all resting atop a bowl of perfectly cooked rice. The real magic, however, is in the steaming hot sauce that’s served separately in a small bottle. As I poured the sauce over the seafood and rice, it sizzled and bubbled in the bowl, creating an aromatic steam that filled the air. The combination of textures—from the tender seafood to the warm rice—was nothing short of divine, and the sauce was rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of savory.
To finish off the meal, I couldn’t resist trying the K19 Steam Egg Pudding for dessert. It was served steaming hot and had just the right balance of sweetness—not too overwhelming, but enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. As someone who loves dessert, I found it the perfect way to round off the meal. The texture was velvety smooth, and the mild sweetness was a great contrast to the savory main course.
The service at Petitpotatoes was also top-notch. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, and they clearly take pride in delivering a fantastic dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Petitpotatoes for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality food in a trendy setting with impeccable service. The C01 Spot Prawn Seafood ChaZuke alone is worth the visit, but the full experience, including that delightful K19 Steam Egg Pudding, makes it a place I'll...
