Once a Favorite, Now a Letdown
When this restaurant first opened, it was an absolute gem—fresh ingredients, generous portions, and impeccable service. I used to rave about the Saj wraps, which were packed with flavorful meats and veggies, accompanied by a healthy side of hummus and garlic sauce. It was a go-to spot for anyone craving quality Middle Eastern cuisine. Unfortunately, things have taken a sharp downturn over the past few months.
The most glaring issue? The sudden addition of French fries as filler in the Saj wraps. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? It’s a cheap, uninspired way to bulk up the wraps, and it’s a far cry from the fresh, wholesome ingredients that initially drew me in. When I reached out to management about this a week ago, I got no response. Zero acknowledgment of my concerns, which is frustrating, to say the least.
To make matters worse, the once generous sides of hummus and garlic sauce have dwindled to a mere teaspoon each. These dips were a perfect complement to the wraps, but now they barely last a few bites. It feels like they’re cutting corners at every turn, and it’s ruining what used to be a standout experience.
As for the service, it’s become a headache. Special requests, like asking for extra toppings or no fries, are ignored more often than not. It’s like talking to a brick wall with this group of servers. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to repeat myself, only to have my requests completely disregarded.
It’s disappointing to see such a great restaurant fall so far. What used to be a favorite has turned into a place I can no longer recommend. I hope management takes these issues seriously and makes some changes, but for now, I’ll be looking elsewhere for my Saj fix.

Read moreJust had lunch today at Pita and Hummus and I have to say, what a pleasure! The establishment is clean and the staff are professional and pleasant to all the customers.
I enjoyed their chicken saj wrap with a side of fries. The price was fair and you get a very generous portion (I am definitely going to have leftovers the next day). You can customize the vegetables that go into your wrap and they have a variety of sauces that you can add in. In addition to the classic hummus, garlic sauce, and hot sauce, they even have different types of hummus that you can select! Don't forget the tahini sauce and their special shawarma sauce - they're a must! The chicken was tender and flavourful!
Oh, can we take a moment to talk about the fries?! Deliciously seasoned and crispy. You can also have them with tahini and shawarma sauce (do it!). Dare I say it? I think they replaced my love of poutine and I'm a big fan of gravy, cheese and fries. Yep, I'm serious.
Above it all, I give the staff at Pita and Hummus 5 stars for their cleanliness, professionalism, and execution in how they handle the food. The chef plating my food was quick but meticulous, clean and organized. My food was placed into the container with finesse (it wasn't thrown in, if you know what I mean). Every customer was greeted professionally and they follow all COVID protocols (changing their gloves when handling food, wearing masks, etc.). You get the sense from the chef (yes, I said chef) and staff who work there that they really care about the food they're putting out there for customers, from taste, to presentation to plating. You may be going to what some might call a 'fast food' type restaurant but the establishment carries itself with class, care, and commitment. 5 stars all around. I am...
Read moreWhy 2 stars you may ask? I would frequent this location weekly for lunch and have always been satisfied. The past couple of weeks the pitas have been half empty and the saj wrap had barely any chicken in it. I also ordered a shawarma plate to see if maybe you get more chicken that way, however again barely any chicken compared to what they used to give. I don't think I will be giving my money to this restaurant any more unless they revert back. I don't know if it's a supply issue or maybe a management change but BBW this is not the same portions if you plan on heading back. Be prepared to leave still hungry.
Edit: went back today for lunch to give it one more shot and again they cut off the entire top of the pita and the pita was half empty!! I was looking at the recent reviews and it appears there are a lot of fake reviews, only 5 star with no description of the experience. I would encourage anyone who reads this to take pictures of the food they get and post it because it is not fair to the consumer that you get a pita with a few sprinkles of cucumber and a tiny bit of chicken in a huge pita. It’s like ordering bread with sauce. The taste of the food is very good the workers are great but the value isn’t close to what it was or even should be. I hate to say this, because this was my favourite place in the neighborhood, but I will not be...
