Rosieās Burgers is often mentioned in conversations about Torontoās best smash burgers, so I decided to give it another tryāthis being my second visit, nearly three years apart. My first experience was memorable for one reason: the burger was so unmemorable. Sadly, this second visit left me with the same impression. If anything, Rosieās is consistentāconsistently underwhelming.
That being said, Iāll give credit where itās due. Rosieās gets several elements right. The pickles are flavorful, the shredded iceberg lettuce adds a crisp, fresh texture (in my opinion, the best choice for smash burgers), and the bunāwhich I believe to be a toasted potato bunāoffers a soft yet sturdy base. These ingredients certainly help elevate a burger. However, they are just supporting players. What truly makes or breaks a smash burger is the patty, the seasoning, and the sauce, and this is where Rosieās struggles.
The beef patty is bland and underseasoned. While the smashing technique itself is solid, yielding a decent crust and reasonable juiciness, the flavor just isnāt there. A smash burger is meant to pack a punch with bold, beefy flavors, but this patty lacks depth. Perhaps a fattier beef blend or simply a heavier hand with the salt could go a long way in addressing this issue.
The sauce, unfortunately, doesnāt save the burger either. It tastes like a generic mix of mayo and ketchup, with possibly a hint of mustard or other spices, though itās difficult to tell. Regardless, itās forgettable and lacks the tang or complexity that a good burger sauce should bring to the table.
In summary, Rosieās Burgers gets a 3.5/5 āitās perfectly passable. If youāre in the area and craving a burger, itāll do. But itās not a place Iād go out of my way to visit, and it certainly doesnāt deserve to be in the conversation for the best burgers in Toronto. To truly earn its spot in that discussion, Rosieās needs to focus on the fundamentals: a more flavorful patty and a standout sauce. Until then, itās just another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter seeing this burger shop trending all over social media for months, I finally decided to give it a try. I was nothing short of amazed with the quality and taste of the food. I tried the Rosie Burger, fries, and banana pudding.
The patty on the burger was crispy and flavourful, and a single patty was the perfect amount of meat for me. There were lots of veggies in the burger as well, that were fresh and tasty. Moreover, we were shocked by how good the fries tasted --- far better than waffle fries from Shake Shack, and close to those from Daves Hot Chicken. This is mainly because they were well seasoned, thick, and very crispy on the outside while being mushy (like mashed potatoes) on the inside. I would honestly come back just for their fries and banana pudding, which I will discuss next. The banana pudding received so much hype on the internet and I think it is deserved. The creamy custard-like pudding is perfectly sweet and cold, and the slices of banana are perfectly creamy against the chew of the crumble on top. It was the perfect dessert after the exceptional burger and fries.
All in all, Rosie's Burgers deserves all of its hype and I would absolutely come back or try other locations in the city. I believe they will be extremely successful in the long run, and it's well earned! I highly recommend this burger spot to anyone looking to try new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR: Nice and quick service. Good food at a good price.
Iām not sure how often Iāve walked pass this place without giving it a second look. But, so glad my friend took me here!
I really like the atmosphere and decor; it gives off cozy diner vibes, which always adds to the burger and shake experience. I was surprised to see it empty during lunch hour, but I wonāt complain! The service was fast and the staff were friendly. I probably waited 5 or so minutes for my food.
Burgers do not need to be fancy and extravagant to be good, and Rosieās menu keeps it simple. Sometimes being basic isnāt bad.
I got the single burger with fries and a strawberry milkshake. The fries were nice, crispy and well seasoned with the shake being a good drink to wash it down. The burger tasted fresh and I love how the patty was a little crispy. All the ingredients helped elevate the burger and the sauce was very flavourful. My only regret was not getting a double burger.
With such a streamlined menu, I feel like I can try everything on the menu with just a few more visits and would still enjoy the experience and taste of the food.
My recommendations: Any of the burger (only 3 to choose...
