TLDR ; This place is phenomenal but only if you are willing to shell out a significant amount of money for it.
I'm a regular at this restaurant and I'm very happy to say that I've never been truly disappointed in any of my visits. The ramen is quite lovely and the variety of toppings is enough to satiate any palette.
The eggs served with ramen here are on a completely different level compared to any other ramen restaurant I've been to. Where most other places don't prepare ramen eggs properly, most seemingly just boil an egg and toss it into a bowl; This restaurant seems to have proper ramen eggs that seem to transcend every other restaurant.
In terms of side dishes, they aren't necessarily large in portion size but given that you'll be eating an entire bowl of ramen, the portion sizes seem a lot more appropriate. There are some hits and some that don't really make much sense to order, though this depends more on personal taste rather than objective fact.
The look and feel of this restaurant is very nice, with a sleek Jet Black theme offset by fine wood and a warm lighting shade. The utensils provided match the theme, as well as the various seating arrangements.
The only reason this place does not receive all 5 stars is because of their pricing. If you want to have the best possible experience, you are most likely going to be spending more than 20 dollars per person. While I can justify spending this amount of money because I enjoy the food; I also understand that a lot of the items sold are simply not worth what they are priced at, which I find to be quite unfortunate given that I would like to eat here more often but find myself unable to reasonably justify spending such amounts of money multiple times a week.
All in all, the place is great and the food is delicious, just be prepared for a large bill at the end...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst customer service experience!!! Came to this restaurant around 6PM on June 26
We waited over 15 minutes just to place our order. No one approached us, and I eventually had to get up and ask a staff member myself — all while carrying my baby. That alone was frustrating enough, but it only got worse.
My baby accidentally spilled water on the table. I politely asked a staff member for paper towels so I could clean it up myself. She said not to worry, that she would clean it for us. Despite this, she came to our table three separate times — once to bring the ramen, then again to bring a bowl for the baby, and once more to serve the chicken — and still never cleaned the table.
My husband and I had to finish our meal with water dripping from the table onto his pants. It was incredibly uncomfortable, and we were left feeling completely ignored. The staff continued to serve and check on other tables around us, yet our soaking wet table was completely disregarded.
To make things worse, no one even bothered to refill our water, and at the end of the meal, I had to walk up to the cashier myself to pay. I specifically tried to deal with a different staff member because of how bad the service was, but was directed right back to the same person who ignored us the entire time.
What kind of restaurant allows customers to sit in a pool of water for over 30 minutes? We were there for 35 minutes, and not once did anyone take proper responsibility. It was uncomfortable, unhygienic, and totally unacceptable.
Very disappointed. Do not support this place. Terrible service and no...
Read moreI have always passed this ramen place whenever I was at STC so I finally gave it a try one Saturday afternoon.
The place has a premium feel. There was something like a front desk receiving area and the table and chairs are not cheap looking. The menu looks old and very worn out though. I wish they consider laminating it or have it made of more durable material.
My companion ordered the Miso Black ($17.50) and I initially tried ordering the Tomato *ramen ($16.50). I was disappointed when the server let me know that there were no tomatoes available during that time so I ordered something else instead. I ended up ordering the Vegetarian Mazemen Sansotei Style ($14) which is a spicy mixed noodle dish with eggplant peperoncini, corn and green onion.
For someone who has a fairly low hot and spicy tolerance level, I can say the dish was manageable. It was spicy but not too much where it can become hot to the tongue. I personally, don't like the red strands garnish looking thing sprinkled on top of the noodles, but all other ingredients are fine. After mixing everything the dish does eventually come together and it came out good.
I can also recommend their Miso Black ramen. The bowl was generously filled with meat and toppings and it was not just made up mostly of soup. The broth flavour was also very rich...
