Second Cup Café — Restaurant in Toronto

EDIT: I did go back and return the cake. They gave me my money back willingly with no hassle so I will add a star back but I do hope they took my concerns seriously and investigate their refrigeration system.

I had no intention of leaving a review as the place seemed nice enough....but I received a food item so spoiled, I feel like I need to write this to potentially keep people safe.

I never thought cake spoiled. Honestly, I just thought it went stale but yesterday I bought a slice of tuxedo cake and when I went to eat it last night the taste was so pungent I've never tasted a spoiled dessert like that in my like. Every part of it was off. The cake, icing, everything. Its smelled so foul as well.I was gaging by my attempted 2nd bite. I dunno if it's old or where they are storing it but it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever had in my mouth. I will have to take it back tomorrow cause I'm legit concerned for their method of storage at this place.

I hope the owners see this and take it seriously. That is not normal and I am 100% certain it would have made me very Ill...

The cafe is well located on the avenue, close to several establishments and bus stops! Unfortunately, there is ongoing work in front of the store, which makes it difficult for pedestrians, especially those with disabilities and families with strollers.

They have an entrance with an automatic door for wheelchair users and people with low mobility, however there is a step obstacle at the entrance that should not be there.

They have internal and external space for customers, where it is possible to stay with their pets. The menu is standard for all stores, but in particular the window tends to be unattractive and lifeless. The salon floor on most of my visits was poorly maintained.

On Sunday, 10/29, the attendant was alone, without support from other employees or management. She served the customers very well, with affection, apologizing for the delay, and always looking concerned about the service. They actually close at 7:30 cause two times I’ve been here, the same tall Asian man says he can’t make us our coffee cause he’s cleaning up. Today I got upset and told him why is it always the same issue and he said well we close in a couple minutes.. I said no you close at 8 which is what it says online. The guy said well no I have to clean before 8. So that means they should be closed at 7:30 because if I come in 30 mins before close and both times you send me away… then you shouldn’t be open. Last time same guy just went right back to sitting on his phone. Worst customer service at...
