In the Sonesta Hotel Bloor Street. Signatures is roomy and bright, on 2 levels, with a huge outdoor space, booths and banquette tables along inner walls. We were seated at one of the large "harvest" tables -7 of us - lots of elbow room but still easy to talk and hear everyone around the table. Lunch menu has lots of app choices: Signatures' Flatbread with tomatoes, figs, and goat cheese was a hit. ($18) - Black Tiger Shrimp (my choice) with Smoked Gouda Polenta, Crushed Tomatoes (fresh) was really delicious ($22) - the Avocado Toast on 11-Grain Bread, with Pesto, Cherry Tomatoes, and Bocconcini was a generous portion. The Balsamic reduction was a good addition ($18). From the mains: Chicken Pot Pie (recommended) was creamy, and flavourful, with delicate pastry, served with a side salad ($28) - Organic Salmon was juicy and flaky, a huge portion, on a bed of Rice Pilaf, with side veg and a fresh salsa ($38). Service was attentive and efficient. Delivery was not well-coordinated, with the Pot Pie arriving 5 minutes after all the other food. My order was completely messed up and had to be sent back. It took another 10 minutes to get the food I actually ordered. The exceptional food will...
Read moreGorgeous interior and amazing food. The InterContinental Hotel is located right outside of St. George Station and easily accessible. My sister and I visited for Winterlicious 2020 and were surprised at the quality for a $28 lunch. We got the goat cheese tartine, burger, chocolate pate and spiced pear tart came (this was my favourite). Although we arrived fairly late in the lunch period (reservation at 2 but did not order until 2:30 as I was waiting for my sister who went to the washroom), the waiters did not rush us and ensured that we had everything we needed (water, takeout container, etc). After ordering, everything came out promptly and we spent a little while taking pictures. It was a beautiful atmosphere and good food so I will probably be back to try some of the foods from the breakfast...
Read moreMade a reservation for Signatures over a month ago. Was told today that they were fully booked we had to sit in the sports bar - and to make it worse, we kept getting a cold draft as we were seated by an exterior door they kept opening to serve people at the heated igloo table outside?! It took over an hour to get our meal served, and the steak was overcooked. My wife's turkey was so bland she had to ask for gravy, which barely helped. When we complained to the staff, he loftily informed it was because we didn't make the reservation right, as we were not "regulars." Apparently only they are worthy to sit in the actual, temperature-controlled Signature restaurant. The rest of us get shafted to the noisy, frigid sports bar.
