Lovely independent café & pantry that’s very popular with the community. Over the last few months the new owner Renata has consistently made improvements to offer customers what they fancy or need.
Recently you can choose to sit in comfy chairs by the window or work on the laptop sitting on the stools at the bar table (WiFi access available). There are benches outside too. In the summer there were even seats and a table for kids on the patio.
Lots of options for everyone: great fresh coffee & lunch / treats, pantry staples from local makers and lots of drink, snacks and candy options for kids. GF options. Seasonal specials!
Lots of vegan options too! Plant milk options FREE of charge (oat, almond, nextmilk); nutty vegan thumbprint cookies and vegan Libretto Margherita frozen pizza. You can pre-order vegan croissants & pains au chocolat and I also tried sour candy sweets! (these items aren’t easily vegan!).
I like to BYO and get a discount when I bring my own cup, it keeps the coffee at its ideal temperature longer too :D
There is customer parking and bike loops across the road. This café is not in my neighbourhood, yet i still make my way to St John’s / Renata’s Pantry regularly....

The beverages are wonderful, they have everything from hot to cold, and all sorts of treats that can make your day a gift.
During the last 2 years where things have been less than ideal, this place has appeared and brought a lot of Joy to the neighborhood. The people who work there know your name after only a couple of visits, and that is the type of place that just feels absolutely wonderful and inviting.
They are also great with children and that is something you don't see...
Read moreGreat little neighbourhood cafe; there's a couple seats inside, and wifi if needed. Food and coffee were fantastic, and the ambience was great! Prices were accessible as well, and there are several milk options, 1 fresh vegan baked good option (which was delicious), and several gluten free baked goods! Also loved the shelves and freezers full of locally sourced/artisanal pantry items.
My favorite part is that there's obviously been effort put into making the space welcoming to children; the whole bottom shelf for shelf-stable stuff was candy, ranging from $0.25 to about $3! They're super close to schools, so this really...
